2013-05-07 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Ike Davis was just dropped in my 14 team 5x5 league. To add him I'd have to drop either Kevin Gregg or Kyuji Fujikawa. Because of his upside in this deep league, do I go for it? And which Cub do I drop? (Tripp from VA) | Eh, I don't know. There is probably another Davis type on the wire. His upside isn't really THAT high after seeing what he did last year. He's a power source, nothing more. (Paul Sporer) |
2013-04-10 20:00:00 (link to chat) | So, who do you have finishing the season with the most saves for the Cubs, Cards and Brewers? thanks (Kevin from Boston) | For the Cubs, I would have to guess Kyuji Fujikawa. Carlos Marmol might get the job again, but he would probably be put in there to showcase him for a trade. Trevor Rosenthal isn't the closer now in St. Louis, but Mitchell Boggs has already struggled so if I'm going to guess, I'm going to guess the guy with the skills and the stuff. Milwaukee is a mystery to me. I thought John Axford would lose the job but had no idea it would happen so quickly. I would guess Jim Henderson, but he has some of the same control/command issues that Ax does/did. My sleeper in this pen is Brandon Kintzler, but I don't see Kintzler as having a path to the job at the moment. (Mike Gianella) |
2013-03-06 20:00:00 (link to chat) | Thanks for the chat, Paul!
Who do you think will be the Cubs' closer at the outset of 2013 and later in the season? How do you think Jason Grilli will do as closer in Pittsburgh?
Thank you. (Chopper from Indy) | I doubt someone takes Marmol off the Cubs hands, so he's still the closer. Kyuji Fujikawa is expected to have a great K rate and should be second-in-line in Chicago. Grilli is probably about the 20th ranked closer, but he has as good a chance as anyone in that group to hang onto the job. (Paul Singman) |
2013-02-15 12:00:00 (link to chat) |
PECOTA is extremely bullish on Kyuji Fujikawa as well as Marmol (why). What are the chances that Fujikawa unseats Marmol as closer to start the season. If not the start of the season do you believe Fujikawa will take over the role sometime during the season. (RUP from DC) | Marmol's contract dictates he gets first chance to fail. Personally, I'd draft Fujikawa before I would touch Marmol because I don't need the ulcer. Saves are saves are saves, but Marmol has done nothing to guarantee his job longer than a game to game status. (Jason Collette) |
2013-02-15 12:00:00 (link to chat) | Mr. Collette, who would you add to this list of the best relief pitching options (no closers) for ratios:
Kenlay Jansen, Trevor Rosenthal and Kyuji Fujikawa. (RP producers from USA) | Jake McGee, Luke Gregerson, Mark Melancon (Jason Collette) |
2013-02-14 13:00:00 (link to chat) | PECOTA is extremely bullish on Kyuji Fujikawa to the point that the Cubs would be foolish not name him the closer going into the season. Do you believe Fujikawa's transition to the BIGS will go smoothly and how long before he inherits the closers role from Marmol. (The Piranha from VA) | If MarmLOL did his MarmLOLiness early and often, it won't take long. That said, PECOTA also like Marmol a good bit. (Paul Sporer) |
No BP Roundtables have mentioned this guy.
