2013-01-31 13:00:00 (link to chat)ZL, my son is riht across the river from you at RPI. Anyway, is there any hope for Frank Francisco? Will he ever be a successful closer? Will he ever be a workable reliever?
(Steve N from Delaware)
Let's go Red. Clarkson still sucks. Anyway, no I don't think Frank Francisco has much closing left in his future. That's not his career trajectory heading into his age 32 season. But there's value there if his 2012 walk rate was a one-year problem. The stuff is still there into his 30s. Still a legitimate option. (Zachary Levine)
2012-05-07 13:00:00 (link to chat)Aside from David Wright, do you think the Mets have any tradeable pieces? Their record is a mirage and they will fade soon enough.
(Matt from Malone, NY)
Their most tradable non-Wright assets are all in the bullpen. It wouldn't be too shocking if a contender grabs Jon Rauch, Ramon Ramirez, or Frank Francisco for the stretch run; maybe not to fill late-inning roles, but as middle relievers. (R.J. Anderson)
2012-03-06 13:00:00 (link to chat)Who ends up getting the majority of the saves for the Mets?
(Dan Wallace from Syracuse)
Frank Francisco. As long as he's healthy and doesn't have a terrible first two weeks, I think he'll be a fantasy bargain this year. (Derek Carty)
2010-03-26 13:00:00 (link to chat)Are you at all surprised that Texas decided on CJ Wilson in the rotation considering the other possibilities and leaving late inning duties to the oft-injured Frank Francisco, Netali Feliz who has never thrown in back-to-back games, and Darren Oliver coming off a career year at age 39?
(Jake from Chicago)
The Rangers have a ton of candidates for their rotation, many of which I wouldn't touch with a 10-foot clown pole (Brandon McCarthy and Matt Harrison come to mind). Because he's a lefty who can miss bats, Wilson is already much more interesting than those two, and worth taking a chance on. A for Feliz, his time will come, but he hasn't shown much in spring training (11.57 ERA), and he's not even 22 yet. I'm a bit more concerned about the Rangers' bullpen, but I do like Oliver, and think that perhaps some of those surplus arms can be useful down there. (Jay Jaffe)
2010-02-17 16:00:00 (link to chat)Who is the first closer to lose his job that people might not expect?
(MarinerDan from SF)
Does Frank Francisco count as one people might not expect? Going higher, maybe Francisco Cordero? That last one is just a hunch. (Tommy Bennett)
2009-05-21 14:00:00 (link to chat)Who is going to give up a run first - Heath Bell or Frank Francisco?
(goiter6 from MN)
Well, Francisco is cheating by being unavailable. Given that one of these guys pitches in San Diego and the other in Texas, I'll go with Bell. (Joe Sheehan)

2010-04-05 09:30:00Season Opener Roundtable"bobbob1313 (Miami): With all of the ragging on the Vicente Padilla's of the world going on here, I've got to ask: Off the top of your heads, who is the worst opening day starter you can think of in recent memory? Is there a better (worse?) choice for this than Mark Hendrickson?"

I don't even know if Padilla was the worst opening day starter this year. I think Westbrook may hold the honors there. Or maybe Frank Francisco. (Colin Wyers)
