(Greg from Boston)	Youkilis is a very good fielding first baseman. Gonzalez is better. Beltre is a better third baseman than Youkilis, but Youk is still pretty good at the hot corner. Given the offensive performance of Gonzalez and how we shouldn't have expected a repeat performance from Beltre this year anyway, it's negligible at best in terms of overall value. (Eric Seidman)

My guess is that Kevin Youkilis will play third for the Sox next year, and they will set about finding a first baseman--either a permanent solution (which will probably cost them Anthony Rizzo in a trade) or a one-year stopgap so they can insert Rizzo into the role in 2012. Second, I'm perplexed by the Mark Teixeira to the Red Sox rumors. Sure, Tex is a great player, but the Red Sox already possess two more years of both Mike Lowell and Kevin Youkilis. Now, neither is Teixeira (though Youkilis was this year), but neither is a slouch at the plate or in the field either. Looking beyond that, the Red Sox have Lars Anderson, who tore it up in A and AA and who projects to be ready for Boston by the time Lowell's contract expires. Taking all of this together, does it really make sense for Theo to spend $150+ Million of John Henry's money on what amounts to a slight up-grade? 2008-04-17 13:00:00 (link to chat)	On the Jewish question -- there was an August 2006 game between the Red Sox and Tigers where Boston had Gabe Kapler and Adam Stern starting in the outfield.... and Kevin Youkilis (who's Jewish/Romanian and not actually Greek) starting in the infield.
