2011-08-26 16:00:00 (link to chat)Which trade/FA signing that you were in on are you most proud of?
(stydings from NJ)
Frank involves all of our front office and scouts in all of the major decisions so it's never a case of "we got this player because of this person." I am proud of all the moves we have made, but it's nice to see career minor league players like Constanza or Brooks Conrad get an opportunity here in Atlanta when they were signed as minor league free agents. I'm also proud of some of the guys we have found on the waiver wire, acquiring the likes of Eric O'Flaherty and Cristhian Martinez for $20,000 per claim. (John Coppolella)
2010-10-12 12:00:00 (link to chat)I enjoyed your article on Brooks Conrad today. It made me start wondering what they do with their infield next year. What do you think the Braves do next year, assuming Jones comes back? Do they bring back Gonzalez, or go with Prado/Infante up the middle and do they give Freeman an opportunity to play 1st?
(Shane from Miami)
Thanks. I think it's pretty unlikely Chipper comes back. If it were me deciding, I'd play Freeman at 1B, Prado at 2B, Infante at SS, and a free agent at third. Although I will say the Yunel Escobar trade still doesn't make sense to me. (Tommy Bennett)
