2009-04-10 16:30:00 (link to chat)Hi Christina, can I expect a June/July fire sale on contract-ending Pirates? And who would get the best return (Adam LaRoche, Grabow, Sanchez?) And would they even consider McLouth? thanks frank
(Frank from Vegas)
I think LaRoche gets sold short, but his production at first base would look good in several lineups. Sanchez isn't worth much because the Pirates would either have to send cash to help cover his salary or eat it altogether, plus he's not one of the better defenders at the keystone, plus he's not that tremendous a hitter; bump him over to third base, and you've got a slugless bat at the hot corner, and Enos Cabell wannabes don't have a lot of applications in today's game over there.
