2009-03-13 13:00:00 (link to chat)I keep hearing Lyle Overbay comps regarding Logan Morrison. Please tell me he'll hit with more power.
(Josh Conklin from NH)
His top PECOTA comps include Kent Hrbek, Greg Walker, and Justin Morneau, none bearing the least resemblance to Overbay. (Steven Goldman)
2008-03-25 14:00:00 (link to chat)Christina: Travis Hafner, Kent Hrbek awaiting or just an injury plagued 07 and return to mashing? On the same note, who do you like the best this year of Manny Ramirez, Justin Morneau, or Travis Hafner? Thanks CK. Love your work.
(sriramk1027 from Palo ALto)
I'm not a Pronk believer, I'm sad to say. A short career arc for a guy who got a late start shouldn't have surprised everyone as much as it did.

From that trio, I'll pick Morneau, because I figure he'll regain ground lost last season while batting in the middle of a stronger overall Twins lineup. (Christina Kahrl)
2008-03-07 13:00:00 (link to chat)What did Morneau due to Pecota this year? 24 HR's! I then opened up my BP book and read a line that says 40HR's wouldn't be a surprise. Can you please tell me he will hit more than 24 HR's this year?
(Mike from Boston)
Sorry, but from my points of view Morneau is a pretty ordinary ballplayer. Over his last three season, he had one very good year, one year in which he was about league average for his position, and another year in which he stunk. He has a low Beta and is a player whom is fairly easy to project. I like the guy -- and it's funny that Kent Hrbek is his #1 PECOTA comparable -- but I think he's a superstar in name only. (Nate Silver)
