BP Annual Player Comments

YearComment
2005 Where McLemore has managed to find new life with a zest only Ponce de Leon might appreciate, McMillon might have the weight of what could have been crushing down on him. He could have been a poor man's Bobby Abreu, adding moderate power and a ton of OBP. But getting blocked in Florida, then cycling through the Phillies and Tigers organizations at their worst moments really used up most of what should have been his best years. We could joke that he's headed to the Moneyball Eastern branch campus now that he's signed with Boston, but Pawtucket's just another place he'll get to call home in a career that's been wasted in the minors.
2004 This is the guy who should be getting ABs in place of that mediocre, expensive ballplayer on your club. McMillon's a fine ballplayer, and one tough SOB, coming back from what should have been career-ending shoulder trouble. He never got the opportunity to start, but when he's been given a shot, all he's done is hit, hit, hit. The A's want to bring him back as a bench player for the 2004 season; if they can't use him, he'd be a productive platoon OF that a lot of clubs could really use. A very underrated player throughout his career-we're downright giddy to see him getting some playing time and making a few bucks.
