2013-01-31 13:00:00 (link to chat) | My saber oriented Philly friend is howling at Rueben Amaro's off-season moves: Mike Young, Delmon Young, John Lannan, Chad Durbin, and the artist formely known as Yuniesky. In your humble opinion, are the Phillies actually moving forward, slamming on the accelator while in reverse, or simply stuck in neutral? (Paul from DC) | They're not moving forward, far from it. They're not slamming on the accelerator either. I think they're trying to push it out of a ditch, if I had to pick any one automotive analogy. This is what happens when you extend Ryan Howard so far before free agency and only notice the skills you want to notice. Of the moves mentioned, the Lannan move bothers me the least. Or the Yuni NRI just because it's an NRI. (Zachary Levine) |
2009-11-02 15:00:00 (link to chat) | Joe, do you think Manuel should have left Madson in for the ninth last night? Even if Lidge doesn't give up a run in the top of the ninth, the pitchers' spot is due up first in the bottom of the inning, so at most Lidge was going to pitch one inning. After that, the Phillies would had to have relied on Chad Durbin, Scott Eyre and company. (philsfan from NYC) | Absolutely. He had no reason to take Madson out, and going to Lidge--whose "comeback" is fictional--actively damaged the Phillies' chances.
It would have been comical to see Phil Coke and Chad Durbin pitching in a tied World Series game. (Joe Sheehan) |
2009-09-24 14:00:00 (link to chat) | What are the Phillies to do for a closer? (ted from media,pa) | Let's ask the bigger question: what are the Phillies to do for a bullpen? The focus on Brad Lidge in the ninth--and he looked terrible last night, seemingly unaware of where his slider would go and unwilling to use the fastball--has hidden the issue that there aren't very many good pitchers in that pen. Madson is a good pitcher, but then...Chad Durbin? Really? Will they get Eyre or Romero back, and if not, is Sergio Escalona now a key guy? I'm not sure the Phillies can get to four good relievers, and that's assuming Pedro Martinez slides into a multi-inning role. (Joe Sheehan) |

2009-10-21 17:00:00 | NLCS Game 5 | Chad Durbin, Phillies' bullpen stabilizer. Who woulda thunk it? (John Perrotto) |
2009-10-21 17:00:00 | NLCS Game 5 | Overheard from one Joe Sheehan: if the answer is Chad Durbin, you've asked the wrong question. Manny's inability to take the HBP or sell the foul off the foot norwithstanding. (Jay Jaffe) |
2009-10-16 13:00:00 | NLCS Game Two/ALCS Game One | You really don't want Chad Durbin with the bases loaded. Despite the platoon, you'd rather a good lefty like Happ pitch to Manny than a bad righty like Durbin. (Steven Goldman) |
2009-10-16 13:00:00 | NLCS Game Two/ALCS Game One | Ethier works the leadoff walk against Happ, who was brought in for the express purpose of facing him. And we're onto Chad Durbin, the creamy nougat center of the Philly bullpen. (Jay Jaffe) |
A Collaboration between BrooksBaseball.net and Baseball Prospectus - Pitch classifications provided by Pitch Info LLC
Although he has not thrown an MLB pitch in 2024, Chad Durbin threw 7,445 pitches that were tracked by the PITCHf/x system between 2007 and 2013, all of them occuring in Spring Training. In 2013, he relied primarily on his Sinker (90mph) and Cutter (88mph), also mixing in a Curve (77mph), Fourseam Fastball (89mph) and Change (83mph).
