2010-01-13 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Do you think Richie Sexson will ever play in the big leagues again or have we seen the last of Big Sexy? (Hensley Meulens from The Bronx) | We've seen the last of him. (John Perrotto) |
2010-01-13 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Do you think Richie Sexson will ever play in the big leagues again or have we seen the last of Big Sexy? (Hensley Meulens from The Bronx) | We've seen the last of him. (John Perrotto) |
2009-10-02 14:00:00 (link to chat) | In a world where Fernando Tatis gets another shot, shouldn't Richie Sexson find work somewhere? (Matt from Malone, NY) | Tatis' 2008 was awfully good, and he can pretend to play all the corners. Sexson hasn't had that kind of year in forever and is a one-trick pony. Then again, he'd be about the sixth-best Royal. (Joe Sheehan) |
2008-07-17 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Yankees just signed Richie Sexson (via FoxSports). Thoughts? (Dan from Newark) | I don't understand why they need the Ghost of Richie Sexson when Jason Giambi's 'stasche deserves its own contract. (Marc Normandin) |
2008-06-20 13:30:00 (link to chat) | Joe, if someone signs Richie Sexson if and when he is DFAd, isn't that a pretty solid piece of evidence that there is collusion against Bonds? (Jon from SF) | Nah. Sexson can play first base, is 10 years younger and comes without all the headaches. I don't think you'll be able to prove a collusion case against Bonds. The arbitrator (not Nicolau...can't remember the name) could prove collusion in the 1980s because the owners left behind evidence. I'm certain that didn't happen this time. (Joe Sheehan) |
2008-06-17 15:00:00 (link to chat) | Enough chatter about those teams hogging the top 10. What about my beloved Nationals? Is this the worst hitting lineup in recent times? Also, on the Dave Duncan theme, I think Randy St. Clair is underappreciated for getting decent pitching out of a staff of 89 mph retreads and kids. (macman from dc) | Whew, 2:30 into this I think I've blown past my pitch count and am into a Category V start. This question and one more....
Good point about St. Clair and the Nats, particularly their rotation. If Shawn Hill could remain healthy it would be even more impressive. As bad as the lineup's hitting has been, it's fundamentally not as awful as, say, the Mariners'. Injuries have taken their toll, limiting Nick Johnson and Ryan Zimmerman or knocking them out of action for extended periods. The important thing is that there's a lot more upside here than a place like Seattle. Lastings Milledge, Elijah Dukes and Wily Mo Pena may not live up to they hype, but I'd rather see what they can do than watching the death throes of Richie Sexson's career and the half-dozen battles to get OBPs over .300 in that lineup. (Jay Jaffe) |
2008-05-29 13:00:00 (link to chat) | The Mariners will fire the manager and GM soon...right? I mean, how do you not have a contingency for Richie Sexson considering they saw the same thing last year. (Arnold Layne from Cambridge) | At some point, you just leave the two guys in their seats until the season is over, then clean house. Hire a GM, let him hire a manager, and start over. The Mariners need to start over. (Joe Sheehan) |
2008-05-09 14:00:00 (link to chat) | Richie Sexson: Stupid lunkhead or smart armchair GM? After all, his impending suspension will probably help the team. (mikedallas45 from Dallas) | If Richie Sexson was as much of a smart armchair GM as you suggest, I would think a decision to go find himself in the Himalayas would be a brilliantly selfless act. (Christina Kahrl) |
2008-03-26 12:00:00 (link to chat) | Hey Bryan,
Standard 5x5 league, I have Giambi, Sexson, Vernon Wells, and Andrew MIller on my bench/extra pitcher. I only have marmol, tony pena, and brian wilson as RP's. DO you think I should make a trade with those big four on the bench for someone like rivera, wagner, or nathan? Thanks Bryan. (SnakeDoctor18 from Washington DC) | Sure, but do you think you have enough to get it done. I mean, assuming it isn't a keeper league, does the guy with Mariano Rivera accept Richie Sexson, Andrew Miller and Brian Wilson for him? I guess it depends on his team, but I'm not so sure. Then again, I'm just backing my way back into rotisserie. (Bryan Smith) |

2009-06-09 14:30:00 | 2009 Draft Coverage | Louisville third baseman Chris Dominguez finally gets taken to the Giants in the third round. Huge arm, huge power, gonna strike out a ton. Reminds some of Richie Sexson with 3B skills. (Kevin Goldstein) |
