2014-10-17 12:00:00 (link to chat)What do you think of Christian Colon? He had a nice 2014 and seems like a solid 2b. What do you see his future as and will he get a chance to start for the Royals? Want to know more about him. Thx.
(Cristobal Colon from Pasadena, CA)
A certain segment of Royals fans will always link Colon with Chris Sale, which is a fair standard for the organization, but somewhat unfair for Colon. He impressed team officials by embracing his utility role this season. When the club traded Danny Valencia in July, they said the imperative was getting Colon to the majors. It would make some sense for Colon to get 250-300 at-bats next season as a backup for Omar Infante and a right-handed complement to Mike Moustakas at third base.

But, who knows. (Andy McCullough)
2014-10-17 12:00:00 (link to chat)The Royals come to you and say "bruh, this walk-up music we're using sucks. You like music, don't you? Choose the walk-up music for this whole lineup..." Nine players, nine songs. GO!
(Bruh from Club)
I did this in a mailbag bag in August. Forgive the jumbled up lineup:

1. Nori Aoki: "The Downfall of Us All" by A Day To Remember. This would just be an amusing way to start the first inning.

2. Omar Infante: "Mojo So Dope" by Kid Cudi. Omar is a laid-back fellow.

3. Salvador Perez: "Simon Says" by Pharoah Monche. The Godzilla introduction would be excellent.

4. Billy Butler: "Some Guys Have All The Luck" by Rod Stewart. A classic for the perpetually put-upon DH.

5. Alex Gordon: "Put On" by Young Jeezy. Either this, or "My Hero" by Foo Fighters. Or "The Best" by Tina Turner. I doubt Gordon would like the latter choices.

6. Josh Willingham: "Top Notch" by Manchester Orchestra. Non-descript rock music.

7. Lorenzo Cain: "Hold On, We're Going Home" by Drake. Smoother than LoCain flagging down a line drive in center.

8. Mike Moustakas: "You Wanted More" by Tonic. What? It's a good guitar riff.

9. Alcides Escobar: "Bowtie" by Outkast. I don't know. Feels like it fits. (Andy McCullough)
2014-07-15 13:00:00 (link to chat)Is Dustin Pedroia and good comp for Rougned Odor or is that more on the optimistic side? Both play with a lot of intensity, power in the 15-20 HR range, 35-40 doubles, hit between 280 - .300? Pedroia may strikeout less, but, to me, those seem like reasonable numbers for Odor.
(Lorenzo from Jacksonville)
Giving anyone that comp would be VERY optimistic. Probably more Omar Infante, but perfect world stuff would be the Pedroia stuff (Paul Sporer)
2013-11-14 13:00:00 (link to chat)Will Hernan Perez do a good job replacing Omar Infante at 2B? Or do they go to FA to find a replacement
(Bob from LA)
If the Tigers are serious about making another run at a World Series, I think they need to do one of two things -- assuming the number one thing is a healthy Miguel Cabrera -- and that's either find an offense upgrade at second base or left field. If they do something big in left field, then they can probably survive with Perez at second base. If they need some offense out of the position, that's not going to end well. He's not ready in that respect, and I'm not sure he's ever going to have the bat to be more than utility guy. (Mark Anderson)
2013-11-08 14:00:00 (link to chat)I understand no qualifying offer for Jhonny Peralta, but Omar Infante and Joaquin Benoit? They need both guys and now if they don't sign they don't get a draft pick either.
(DetroitDale from Tallahassee (eternal spring training))
What relievers have ever made qualifying offer money? Rivera, and...Rivera. Papelbon, almost. Benoit is good, but he's not going to get that on the open market. I agree that there was a more compelling case to make for extending the QO to Infante. (Ben Lindbergh)
2012-07-24 13:00:00 (link to chat)Just wondering if there's any hope for Ryan Raburn or Sean Rodriguez now. I thought they were great MI sleepers in April.
(Francisco from Toronto)
Raburn's BABIP is only .225 where's he's been comfortably over .300 in previous seasons. He appears to be walking and striking out at about the same rate as last season, but he wasn't really that valuable last season. I'd want to check out his approach a little bit more closely to see what's changed, but unless his bat speed is totally gone, he'll probably be better in the second half. But he won't be so much better that the Tigers will regret getting Omar Infante.

Sean Rodirguez just isn't that good a hitter. The problem this year is he's walking less than last season (and his BABIP in 2010 hasn't been repeated), but he could still be useful as super-sub reserve in real life. In fantasy, I don't see it. (Dan Turkenkopf)
2010-10-25 13:00:00 (link to chat)Can you give me a good reason why Omar Infante should not be the Braves' starting shortstop next year? He can field, and he's proved he can hit at least as well as your garden-variety Jeter.
(John from Atlanta)
Because the Braves have plenty of experience with Infante breaking down, the ability to notice that A-Gonz has had his own failings health-wise, and there aren't a lot of great options to pick from on the open market. I think it's great that the Braves have a nice stack at shortstop already set aside, because look at how many clubs are short at short. (Christina Kahrl)
2010-07-06 14:00:00 (link to chat)NL All-Stars: Omar Infante vs. Joey Votto - discuss.
(GBSimons from Boise, ID)
The internet has already expressed its displeasure at the pick, so I don't have much to add. However, if we're going to blame someone, we should blame Bud Selig instead of Charlie Manuel, since MLB apparently decreed that a utility player must be present for each side.

Chinese food is here--I'll tip well. It's hot out there. (Ben Lindbergh)
2009-07-07 13:00:00 (link to chat)Jay, how do the Braves fix their absolute mess of an outfield, now and down the road?
(steveomd from Ohio)
Start by pulling the ol' switcheroo the next time the traveling secretary hands out plane tickets to Jeff Francoeur and Garret Anderson, maybe something along the lines of a flight to Tijuana via Nova Scotia.

I'd start with the assumption that McLouth should be playing a corner position (does he have the arm for right?), platoon Gregor Blanco and Omar Infante in center, at least until you're satisfied Schafer is ready, and try to find a lefty bat that can match with Matt Diaz in left. And look forward to the day when Jason Heyward is ready (two years?). (Jay Jaffe)
