2020-09-23 13:00:00 (link to chat) | We've all read about the speed & defense of Cristian Pache, but the guesses on where the bat winds up are always vague. In a full, peak season, where do you see Pache's HRs, doubles and BA/OBP winding up? (The Colonel from Pasadena, CA) | I am not really that kind of prognosticator, especially for isolating a peak season without context. I mean, Jacoby Ellsbury's peak season is wildly out of line with the rest of his career. Is there value in going out on a limb for that rather than giving you the expected contribution and acknowledging that variance will do what it may? There might be, but I struggle to see it.
I think Pache is generally an 8-12 HR type, with a .270s average and a .330 type OBP. (Craig Goldstein) |
2020-02-28 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Give me the names of top prospects who are going to come up this year? (Charlie from Atlanta) | The list is extensive. Here are top-50 prospects who likely will be in the majors at some point in 2020: Jo Adell, Gavin Lux, Luis Robert, MacKenzie Gore, Carter Kieboom, Dylan Carlson, Nick Madrigal, Jesus Luzardo, Dustin May, Brendan Rodgers, Nate Pearson, Casey Mize, Forrest Whitley, Alec Bohm, Cristian Pache, Ryan Mountcastle, Spencer Howard, and Matt Manning. There are obviously others, and even more who will surprise, but I'd wager these prospects will arrive at some point. (Jesse Roche) |
2018-11-30 13:00:00 (link to chat) | %chance Kelenic absolutely hits (>=7)? 1%? Higher? Where does that chance rank among prospects, top-20? top-50? (boss baby from seattle) | Jarrett wrote extensively on percentile outcomes early this year in an article I really need to like promote more or even pin on the prospect page. If you assume the OFP 60 is the 75th percentile outcome, the 7+ outcome is probably like low-90s. That's more than a puncher's chance, but that cuts both ways with the volatility in your cold-weather prep bat as his 25th percentile outcome is going to be lower than other outfielders ranked around him too. I don't like to parse stuff out this much, but I don't think he is particularly more *likely* to pop than the 6/5 outfielders ranked around him which are dudes like Drew Waters, Cristian Pache and Esteven Florial (card subject to change) (Jeffrey Paternostro) |
2018-07-13 15:00:00 (link to chat) | Soooooo Mountcastle can't play 3B, you concede he may not even be able to play LF, and he walks like twice a month. He's ranked 26th.
Meanwhile Cristian Pache is unanimously the best defensive CF in the minors and already has 8 bombs in the notoriously power-suppressing FSL at age 19. He might not've cracked the top 75.
Riiiiiiiiighht.........cuz that makes sense.
(G Money from Boise) | Mountcastle can really hit and nobody consulted us on that unanimous poll. (Jeffrey Paternostro) |
2018-07-10 20:00:00 (link to chat) | Fantasy keeper-wise, how would you rank Khalil Lee, Cristian Pache, and Andres Gimenez? Do you expect any of the 3 to become stars? Thank you (Larry from Pittsburgh) | Just like you have them. Pache might have the highest upside of the bunch and could become a star if he continues progressing in the power department and learns to take a walk *and* lay off sliders. He has 80-grade defense and speed but he's got a ways to go. Gimenez doesn't have a standout tool and Lee has an awesome eye at the plate but doesn't have monster power or speed, so their star potential is capped a bit. (Eddy Almaguer) |
2017-11-03 13:00:00 (link to chat) | What kind of offensive ceiling does Cristian Pache have? Thanks! (Juan from ATL) | It's a very boom or bust offensive profile, backed by a more stable up-the-middle defensive one. Pache has a really quick bat, but there isn't a ton of loft in the swing, and he is very aggressive at the plate right now. He's fast enough, and the body's projectable enough that if it all comes together I could see some .290, 15 bomb seasons in there, but he's a long way from that right now and the delta is huge. 2017-02-14 12:00:00 (link to chat) | They're not Top 101 guys yet, but in a dynasty sim league who's more likely to be an impact player, Cristian Pache or Jesus Sanchez? Thanks for all your hard work this winter. (delatopia from the 415) | Okay, lighting round time.
At present I'll take Pache's tool set for fantasy purposes. (The Top 101 Prospect Chat with Jeffrey Paternostro) |
2017-02-06 23:00:00 (link to chat) | Hey Wilson. I may have a slight addiction for drafting very low minor OF's who could become names or just flame out. This pre-season I am looking to target Daniel Montano, Taylor Trammel, or Cristian Pache. I was wondering if you could provide your thoughts on these players. Thanks. (Jerry from Earth) | Man, you and me, we got similar sets of eyes. All of these guys are, of couse, a million miles away. But! The Rockies gave Montano seven figures, and he showed a fune power/speed combo (along with oodles of swing-and-miss in the DOSL last summer. So...Rockies...big bonus...power and speed...let's ignore the whiffs because that's more fun..yeah, sign me up for speculation. Pache's got plus speed and makes loud contact, lotta rough edges to the swing though. Trammell I'm probably most bearish on, lot of ground to cover in translating pure athleticism to baseball skills, though there's a 55/60 power/speed combo potential there. I wrote about him at the end of the season: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=30482
Side bar: the boat-rockin' bassline is owning it right now, click on that shizz with some proper headphones if you're not listening to it RN please thank you (Wilson Karaman) |
2017-02-21 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Hey George. I may have a slight addiction for drafting very low minor OF's who could become names or just flame out. This pre-season I am looking to target Daniel Montano, Taylor Trammel, or Cristian Pache. I was wondering if you could provide your thoughts on these players. Thanks. (Jerry from Earth) | How big is your league? I don't know anything about those specific players. Just too far off the fantasy radar for me. Sorry. (George Bissell) |
