2020-01-31 13:00:00 (link to chat)Who are your favorite young catchers after Rutschman for dynasty purposes?
(Jordan from Milwaukee)
I could just point to our Top 101 and our Top 40 catchers, but where is the fun in that? After Rutschman, my rankings are:
2. Joey Bart
3. Daulton Varsho
4. Sean Murphy
5. Luis Campusano
6. Francisco Alvarez
7. Keibert Ruiz
8. Zack Collins
9. Diego Cartaya
10. Tyler Stephenson
11. Ivan Herrera
12. Miguel Amaya
13. Sam Huff
14. Andrew Knizner
15. Ryan Jeffers
16. William Contreras
17. Alejandro Kirk
18. Gabriel Moreno
19. Ronaldo Hernandez
20. Cal Raleigh
21. Bo Naylor
22. Mario Feliciano
23. Shea Langeliers
24. Connor Wong
25. Korey Lee (Jesse Roche)
2019-01-23 12:00:00 (link to chat)Zack Collins was a top-90 prospect for BP entering last year, and put up a very solid .380+ OBP in AA. Why the snub this year? When do you forecast he makes the show and what kind of forecast do you see for him?
(Jonathan from LA)
Less confidence in his ability to stick as a catcher basically. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2018-06-29 13:00:00 (link to chat)How would you assess Zack Collins' year so far?
(Tom from IL)
More or less holding serve (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2018-01-11 13:00:00 (link to chat)I have 9 prospects on my dynasty roster and need to get it down to 5. My back end guys are Jack Flaherty, Chance Sisco, Jorge Mateo, Jose DeLeon, Yohander Mendez, and Zack Collins. Which two do I keep? Which ones might have the best trade value in a deep dynasty league?
(edwar288 from Minneapolis)
Mateo is the obvious one from a fantasy standpoint. After that you have three arms without a clear out pitch, and two catchers that might not stick. I'd probably take Flaherty just based on floor, but I don't feel good about it. If you are short catching, hold on to Sisco. I don't feel good about that either. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2017-07-12 13:00:00 (link to chat)Do you think Zack Collins sticks behind the plate?
(kjesanis from Maine)
Catchers are weird. The organization did succeed in turning Flowers from a butcher to a plus defender back there, and they may have gotten Kevan Smith from terrible to adequate as well. The White Sox' scouting director, Nick Hostetler, feels very strongly about his ability to stick back there, and Collins has had great results throwing out baserunners. One last thing working in his favor is his work ethic, as he seems just as determined as the White Sox in staying back there.

I think we'll know a lot more when he gets promoted to a level where we can track FRAA, but I'm more optimistic than I was when he was drafted, and think there's a decent shot he can hang there. (Nick Schaefer)
2017-06-13 12:00:00 (link to chat)We don't have FRAA numbers on him because he's still in High-A, but there's been ink in Chicago coverage about Zack Collins' success throwing out minor league baserunners. Any information on how his catcher defense is progressing generally?
(nschaef from NYC)
I don't have anything super recent, but I know the org was happy with the progress he's been making (though they're more likely to report positive progress than anything else). Still, they're the only ones that it really matters what they think. (Craig Goldstein)
2017-03-23 20:00:00 (link to chat)Hey Mark. Which prospects are you higher on than your colleagues & why? Vice versa which ones are you lower on & why?
(David from Atlantis)
I don't know that I have any outlandish rankings, but I like Blake Rutherford higher than his position on the top 101. Same for Zack Collins. Austin Meadows is consensus top 10 in most places, but I might have him in the top 3.

As far as lower, I'm just not sure I get it with Manuel Margot. In fantasy, at least. (Mark Barry)
2017-02-13 20:00:00 (link to chat)With Gsellman ranked so high on the new prospect list, would you take him over a guy like Groome or even Zack Collins in a prospect draft?
(Alex from Austin)
Depends on your team's needs and your league context. If you're in contention and just need an arm, and pitching prospects don't return a ton in your league, go with Gsellman since he's already arrived. With Groome and Collins, if you're rebuilding, they make a lot more sense. However, if you're expecting to contend in 2017 and pitching prospects can be traded for good current-year packages, maybe take one of them with an eye towards flipping them, but only if you can expect a 2017 return that's better than Gsellman. (Scooter Hotz)
2016-08-10 13:00:00 (link to chat)How would rank this years June draftees and international signees for fantasy purposes? Say top 15 or so?
(Snowborne from Pittsburgh)
I'm not a big fantasy guy so I don't know about 15 but a few guys that are going to be ready sooner rather than later are Nick Senzel, Zack Collins, and Burdi. (James Fisher)
