2018-04-05 20:00:00 (link to chat) | If you were the A's what positions do you put Franklin Barreto, Jorge Mateo, and Sheldon Neuse? Third base is blocked with Matt Chapman. Are any of them better shortstops, defensively, than Marcus Semien? And the A's seem intent on using Dustin Fowler in centerfield once healthy. (Ken from Fairfax) | Barreto second base, Mateo center field and Neuse first base. They're going to need to make some trades or see some injuries but these things have a way of working themselves out. (Mike Gianella) |
2018-05-11 13:00:00 (link to chat) | With Jorge Mateo, Franklin Barreto, and Sheldon Neuse all knocking at the door of the majors, what should the A's do with them? Matt Chapman is ensconced at 3B. The A's aren't giving Barreto or Mateo reps in center despite the fact Dustin Fowler is at best a tick below average defensively there. And it isn't clear Mateo or Barreto would be better than Marcus Semien at shortstop. They can't all play second base... (John from Harrisonburg) | So this is a good problem for a team to have. Talent logjams have a way of clearing up. Remember when the Cubs had Too Many Shortstops? The thing about some of these guys is that some of them simply wind up being not that great, and you can trade people for stuff too. I mean, is Neuse really threatening to unseat anyone right now? Barreto will work his way into the lineup somehow. Part of the reason some of these guys are still in Triple-A is that Jed Lowrie has been playing his ass off, but he's a free agent after this year. Patience, grasshopper. (Nicolas Stellini) |
2018-02-05 12:00:00 (link to chat) | If time had frozen the pitch before Dustin Fowler hurt his knee, would he gave ranked higher? (Mark Reilly from Sacramento) | He probably would have gotten enough AB to not be eligible? But yes. Jarrett for one loves him and was arguing him higher even with the knee injury. Without it, he's probably in the 60s somewhere? That's back of the napkin though. (Top 101 with Jeffrey Paternostro) |
2018-02-28 20:00:00 (link to chat) | Who are some ETA 2018 prospects that could help a contender in dynasty? Like outside the top 25 on the 101 (already rostered). Thanks (Jojo from Sd ) | Not sure if you mean past 25th overall or outside the top 100? Woodruff, C.Burnes, Gohara, Y. Chirinos, Dustin Fowler, Chris Shaw, Sandy Alcantara, C. Stewart, W.Adames, Jose Adolis Garcia, R.Arozarena, R.Armenteros, T.Mahle. (Eddy Almaguer) |
2017-06-27 20:00:00 (link to chat) | Is Dustin Fowler a fair return for Addison Reed or is that unrealistic? Shouldn't he net a similar return as Melancon? Could you see the Mets packaging Reed/Duda in a deal with NYY?
(AI from BK) | We've got multiple Dustin Fowler to the Mets questions even. The Melancon trade is kind of a weird one because they traded him for another MLB reliever, but Dustin Fowler is the type of fringe top 100 prospect I expect Reed to go for. And Duda makes sense too, of course.
At the same time, when was the last time the Mets and Yankees made a substantial trade? Armando Benitez? (Jarrett Seidler) |
2017-05-04 13:00:00 (link to chat) | What do you make of Dustin Fowler? Lots of extra-base hits at AAA for a guy his age. Is he the centerfielder of the future for the Yanks? (John from Hells Kitchen) | He kind of gets lost among the millions of Yankees prospects, mostly because he's never really popped huge numbers/tools and there's not a shiny OFP. You'd probably want a a true first division guy if you are the Yankees, but Fowler could be a nice little player for them. I think the triples are more for real than the couple extra home runs so far though. (Jeffrey Paternostro) |
2017-03-16 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Is Dustin Fowler a lg avg. CF? Can he be more than that? (Dale from Secaucus) | Is he right now? Nope!
Yeah, he can be that, even can be more. I like him as a prospect. (Matthew Trueblood) |
2016-04-22 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Who are some under the radar guys who could be big prospects for the Yankees next year? (Greg from DC) | Ben Gamel kind of came out of nowhere last season, and could be a surprise prospect with some more production this year. Dustin Fowler is a guy that might help in 2017, though he's a bit higher in the prospect rankings. Maybe I'll go with Brady Lail or Cale Coshow if I have to dig down a bit. (Kenny Ducey) |
