2016-11-11 13:00:00 (link to chat)Any players in Mets farm system that you think could be above average MLB relievers? Oswalt? Sewald?
(Geoff from NY)
You are best off looking at the 91-94 with a slider dudes, and the Mets have a few. Andrew Church, Merandy Gonzalez (though he has a curve), Luis Silva come to mind off the top of my head. Dunn could of course be an impact relief arm if it breaks that way. Sewald is more 87-90 with a slider, but he deserves a shot. Certainly proved me wrong every step of the way. Oswalt's fastball has just been too hittable despite flashing plus velo. Don't know if the pen helps there. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2016-06-07 12:00:00 (link to chat)I know you havent seen him yet and its only 2 starts but what can you tell us about Andrew Church and his repetoire? Is he someone us Mets fans should be keeping a close eye on?
(Steve from Delaware)
Acast has him touching 95 and throwing a slider. That is intriguing if nothing else (and more than enough for the Sally). It was such a weird amateur profile, and then he was never really healthy as a pro. They worked hard on his change in Kingsport in 2014, that will be the difference between intriguing, and legitimate starting pitching prospect. Also, he has to stay healthy of course, and the best indicator of future pitcher injury is past pitcher injury. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
