2009-09-10 13:00:00 (link to chat)Ok, here's the big question. What's wrong with Kevin Millwood? He's been dreadfull the second half. Did the extra innings he pitched earlier in the season wear him out? Should he be shut down? Can he be relied upon for the stretch? Is he right now the number 3 or number 4 starter on the Rangers.
(Ira from North Texas)
Shut down? Are you serious? It's questions like this that make me wonder why people can't set emotion aside and make reasonable decisions about their teams. I get that you love baseball, people - I do too. You just have to stop and have some common sense when you're assessing the team rather than making irrational, panicked statements like this. (Will Carroll)
2009-04-13 14:00:00 (link to chat)I've heard rumblings that Kevin Millwood has developed a new pitch or that he has just greatly improved one. Are the first two starts of the season just Millwood being fresh and/or lucky, or is this a sign of things to come? Is this the potential that he was supposed to reach with the Braves? Also, what about Kyle Lohse? Is this an example of batters not catching up to pitchers yet too?
(Clay from Sarasota, FL)
Haven't heard anything about a new pitch. For his sake I hope it's a sinker to rival Derek Lowe's, because he needs all the help he can get pitching in that ballpark. (Jay Jaffe)
2009-04-16 13:00:00 (link to chat)Mark, have you heard anything about a new approach from Kevin Millwood this year? Tweaked windup? New pitch? I know its only two starts, but hes been virtually perfect
(hanjna from CT)
I haven't, but if this is something you would like to take a look at with Pitch f/x, then I will. What does everyone think? I want to start doing a lot more with Pitch f/x, but I would like your feedback on just what you want to see me do with it. (Marc Normandin)
2008-04-29 14:00:00 (link to chat)other pitchers availible are, Dontrelle Willis,Ted Lilly,Francisco Liriano, Tom Gorzelanny, Ubaldo Jiménez, Jarrod Washburn, Jeff Suppan, Jamie Moyer, Shawn Chacón, Shawn Hill, Kevin Millwood, Andy Sonnanstine, See anything in there you like better the Hughes?
(dogtothedog from Toronto)
Sonnanstine's intriguing. Lilly's using the wrong pitches, from what I can tell. I like Gorzelanny, but I'd like him more if he'd stop hurting my own team's numbers. I'd take Sonnanstine for now, honestly. Phil Hughes is all kinds of messed up at the moment.

Sonnanstine's using a cutter more this year, probably to offset the number of fastballs in the zone hitters knew were coming in '07. It hasn't helped his strikeout rate, but he's lowered the number of base hits he's allowing. That's a tough crowd of FA, I'll give you that... (Marc Normandin)
