  • Mets RP Jeurys Familia (elbow) has begun throwing in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
  • Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (foot) went 1-for-3 on Wednesday in his first game with the GCL Mets.
  • Mets OF Lucas Duda (intercostal) went 0-for-2 with a walk Wednesday in his first rehab game with the GCL Mets.
  • Diamondbacks RP Matt Reynolds (elbow) is scheduled to throw Wednesday for the first time since being placed on the disabled list.
  • Mets SP Jon Niese (shoulder) could begin a rehab assignment with the Gulf Coast League Mets this weekend.
  • Diamondbacks C Miguel Montero will visit the doctor Wednesday after feeling slight pain in his back during batting practice prior to Tuesday's game.
  • Marlins OF Marcell Ozuna is expected to be placed on the disabled list with a torn ligament in his left thumb.
  • Phillies OF Domonic Brown is displaying concussion-like symptoms.
  • Braves SP Tim Hudson will have season-ending surgery for a fractured right ankle that he suffered in Wednesday's win over the Mets.
  • Nationals SP Ross Detwiler will miss the next month due to a disc issue that's led to a pinched nerve in his back.
  • Brewers RP Donovan Hand (hand) is expected to make his next scheduled start on Sunday in Colorado.
  • Braves OF Jordan Schafer (ankle) could be cleared to swing a bat as soon as this weekend.
  • Braves OF B.J. Upton (groin) played catch and took batting practice Wednesday.
  • Braves SP Brandon Beachy (elbow) could rejoin the Braves' rotation as soon as Monday.
  • Cardinals SP John Gast will undergo season-ending surgery on his left lat.
  • Padres OF Kyle Blanks (Achilles) will not return from the disabled list when first eligible on Saturday.
  • Reds C Ryan Hanigan (wrist) won't be activated from the disabled list on Thursday as originally hoped.
  • Giants SP Ryan Vogelsong (hand) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A San Jose on Friday.
American League:
  • Rays SP Taylor Guerrieri will have Tommy John surgery Wednesday.
  • Yankees SS Jayson Nix (hamstring) will continue his rehab assignment Thursday with High-A Tampa.
  • Yankees OF Curtis Granderson (finger) said he will begin a minor league rehab assignment Thursday with High-A Tampa.
  • Twins OF Wilkin Ramirez (concussion) flew to the Twins' complex in Fort Myers, Florida on Wednesday.
  • Rangers manager Ron Washington said on MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM on Wednesday that SP Neftali Feliz (elbow) could be ready to begin a rehab assignment by August 2.
  • Athletics SP Brett Anderson (foot) threw around 40 pitches in a bullpen session Wednesday.
  • Astros OF Brandon Barnes left Tuesday's game against the Athletics after six innings with a mild left calf strain.
  • Astros OF J.D. Martinez left Tuesday's game against the Athletics after he collided with teammate Justin Maxwell while going after a fly ball in the ninth inning.
  • White Sox RP Jesse Crain (shoulder) might not throw a bullpen session Thursday as originally hoped.
  • SP Clay Buchholz (shoulder) threw on flat ground with "with increasing intensity" Wednesday, according to Red Sox manager John Farrell.
  • Athletics C John Jaso was hit in the mask again on Wednesday afternoon and came away with a headache.
  • Rangers SP Matt Harrison (back) felt fine after throwing a session of live batting practice on Wednesday.
  • Blue Jays SP Brandon Morrow will have his forearm reexamined.
  • Yankees SP David Phelps (forearm) will make at least one more rehab start before being activated from the disabled list.
  • Yankees manager Joe Girardi indicated Wednesday that it was unlikely DH Derek Jeter (quad) would be activated from the disabled list on Saturday, the first day he's eligible.
  • White Sox 2B Gordon Beckham took flips prior to Wednesday's game and said his injured left wrist "felt better than it did."
  • Rangers DH Lance Berkman (hip) admitted Wednesday that he's "probably still not quite ready" to return to the lineup.
Notes and Rumors

National League:
  • Braves SP Kris Medlen indicated after Tuesday's game that he knows he knows he could be moved to the bullpen.
  • Giants manager Bruce Bochy indicated Wednesday that OF Jeff Francoeur will be his regular left fielder going forward.
  • Nationals manager Davey Johnson said Taylor Jordan will be shut down after about 20-30 more innings.
  • OF Alfonso Soriano met with Cubs president Theo Epstein on Tuesday to give him a list of teams he would approve a trade to.

American League:

  • According to MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan, the Rangers are eyeing White Sox outfielder Alex Rios.
  • Evan Drellich of MLB.com was told by a source that the Red Sox plan to have a scout in attendance to watch White Sox SP Jake Peavy's start against the Tigers on Thursday.
  • Mariners manager Eric Wedge will miss at least the next three series after suffering a "very mild stroke."
  • MLB.com's Scott Merkin reports that 3B Will Middlebrooks' name has been involved in the Red Sox' trade talks with the White Sox regarding Jake Peavy.
  • Angels RP Garrett Richards will take Joe Blanton's spot in the rotation starting on Saturday in Oakland.
  • Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that the Rangers have expressed interest in Hunter Pence, Alex Rios and Kendrys Morales
