The Internet, I’d argue, is an important part of today’s society.

I know that plenty of you disagree. In fact, Baseball Prospectus’ primary audience is still found in so-called legacy media, nourished by a tireless group of volunteers who each morning trudge to the library, print off the day’s content from baseballprospectus.com and distribute it to the mailboxes of tens of thousands of loyal readers.

But hear me out: Here’s an instance where the internet really is important, a time when we, the baseball-watching populace, can use it to really make our collective voice heard. It’s just about time for the 25^th annual the Greg Spira Memorial Internet Baseball Awards, where we can once and for all settle all arguments about baseball.

Go ahead and click on that link. The awards are up and running and begging for your input, and all you need to participate is an account on baseballprospectus.com, even a free one. To sweeten the deal even more for you, anyone voting is eligible to win a one-year subscription to Baseball Prospectus Premium, and we’re also sending copies of our reprinting of Kevin Kerrane’s seminal scouting book Dollar Sign on the Muscle to randomly selected voters.

I’ll be providing periodic updates on the voting process, from breaking down the leaders and trends to interviewing voters about their ballots. (I might even talk to you!) You’re also encouraged to share your picks with friends and family and to encourage them to participate.
