The calling card for Theo Epstein's Boston Red Sox teams was their ability to wear down the opposing pitcher with long, drawn-out at-bats. It was obvious to anyone that Epstein wanted to bring that type of professional at-bat to the North Side when he took over baseball operations with the Chicago Cubs. But to do so with such a young team is a little unexpected, but regardless, the Cubs, who have four rookies in their starting lineup, lead baseball with 3.98 pitches per plate appearance.
