Welcome to the July 17th edition of the Weekly Wrap. We cover A.J. Reed, Christin Stewart (yes, really. This is a real thing), Jeff Hoffman, and more. Also, it's my birthday! Good for me.

On The Shelf
Austin Wilson, the Mariners' second round pick in 2013, landed on the disabled list this week with a broken bat. We'll see if some time off can fix it.

Reds starter and former first round pick Nick Howard was placed on the seven-day disabled list while in High-A Daytona. The nature of his injury has yet to be announced.

Congrats on Your New Job
The Astros promoted 2014 second round pick A.J. Reed (Eyewitness Report) to Double-A Corpus Christi after he bombarded California League pitching to the tune of a .346/.449/.638 line.

Luiz Gohara (Eyewitness Report) was promoted from short-season to Low-A Clinton by the Mariners. The burly lefty has a plus fastball and will flash an average breaking ball, setting him up for success in the lower minors.

The second pick of the first round for Detroit, Christin Stewart was promoted to Low-A West Michigan this week. He's an all-bat prospect with a chance for average hit and plus power grades. Here's what Chris Crawford had to say:

He's a good player, one who has a while before he enters his Twilight. My biggest concern is that his stats are a little worse On The Road, but I wouldn't Panic (Room) about it. If you were to put him in center field, it wouldn't be an Adventureland.

Chris is a jerk sometimes.

The Blue Jays selected Jeff Hoffman despite his Tommy John surgery and they're reaping the benefits already. The ninth overall pick in 2014 was promoted to Double-A New Hampshire, and while his stuff has returned, he's still flashing dominance more than he is sustaining it.

Miguel Almonte (Eyewitness Report) has been promoted to Triple-A Omaha, and while his 2015 season hasn't been dominant, the stuff is still there for a mid-rotation starter if it clicks. He can hold his velocity deep into games, and he has a plus changeup to boot. He could be (yet another) bullpen option for Kansas City come September.

The Red Sox promoted shortstop prospect Tzu-Wei Lin to Double-A Portland.

Back in Action
Rafael Montero (Mets) struck out one and allowed one hit in a scoreless inning as he returned from rotator cuff inflammation.
