Yesterday's Notable Stat Lines:
(90-66) Dodgers - 1 at 0 - Padres (72-83)
- Dodgers RP Kenley Jansen slammed the door, striking out all three hitters he faced to preserve a one-run lead.
- Dodgers 3B Michael Young delivered a run-scoring double in the seventh inning.
- Dodgers SP Zack Greinke worked five scoreless innings in a no-decision, surrendering just two hits and a walk.
- Padres OF Will Venable went 0-for-3 with a walk and his 22nd stolen base of the season.
- Andrew Cashner racked up seven strikeouts and didn’t allow an earned run in seven innings, but suffered a tough-luck loss after an error led to an unearned run crossing the plate in his final inning of work.
(89-67) Reds
- 11 at 3 - Pirates (89-67)
- Reds OF Billy Hamilton went 3-for-6 with two more steals and two runs scored.
- Pirates SP Jeff Locke was pulled after allowing five runs in one inning.
- Reds OF Chris Heisey busted out of his slump by going 3-for-5 with two RBI and three runs scored.
- Pirates 2B Neil Walker homered, doubled and walked twice.
(91-65) Cardinals
- 4 at 6 - Brewers (68-86)
- Brewers OF Carlos Gomez swiped his 37th base of the season.
- Brewers RP Jim Henderson surrendered a run on three hits in the ninth inning, but still managed to escape with his 26th save of the season.
- Brewers SP Wily Peralta was a bit erratic, but managed to earn his 11th victory of the season after allowing three runs on five hits in his five-plus innings of work.
- Cardinals 2B Matt Carpenter went 2-for-3 and swatted his 11th home run.
- Cardinals RP Joe Kelly was hurt by a poor defensive effort behind him as he surrendered six runs (three earned) on seven hits over seven frames.
(57-99) Marlins
- 4at 5 - Nationals (84-72)
- Nationals OF Denard Span went 2-for-5 and drove home three runs.
- Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg turned in a quality start in a no-decision, allowing three runs on six hits in his six innings of work.
- Marlins OF Justin Ruggiano belted his 18th home run of the season.
- Marlins SP Brian Flynn pitched decently in a no-decision, surrendering two runs on four hits over his four innings of work.
(79-76) Diamondbacks - 13 at 9 - Rockies (71-86)
- Diamondbacks 3B Matt Davidson had another big day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a homer and four RBI.
- Diamondbacks SP Patrick Corbin struggled in a no-decision, surrendering four runs on 10 hits over 4 1/3 innings.
- Rockies OF Michael Cuddyer returned to the lineup without missing a beat, going 3-for-5 with an RBI.
- Rockies SP Juan Nicasio was hammered, allowing seven runs on seven hits in just 2 1/3 innings of work.
(71-84) Mets - 4 at 3 - Phillies (71-84)
- Mets RP Carlos Torres pitched six innings of two-run ball and struck out six.
- Mets OF Juan Lagares went 3-for-4 with an RBI double.
(92-63) Braves - 5 at 2 - Cubs (65-91)
- Braves SP Julio Teheran allowed one run in six innings and fanned seven.
- Braves SS Andrelton Simmons hit a pair of homers, upping his season total to 17.
- Cubs OF Junior Lake fanned all four times he was up.
American League:
(65-90) Twins - 7 at 11 - Athletics (93-63)
- Athletics Coco Crisp had a monster day at the dish, going 2-for-4 with a homer, four RBI and a stolen base.
- Athletics SP Sonny Gray struggled, but still walked away with his third victory of the season despite allowing four runs on seven hits over his five innings of work.
- Twins SS Oswaldo Arcia went 3-for-4 with a homer and six RBI.
- Twins SP Cole De Vries was destroyed, surrendering six runs on four hits in just two innings of work.
(68-88) Mariners - 3 at 2 - Angels (76-79)
- Mariners 1B Justin Smoak launched his 18th home run of the season.
- Mariners SP Felix Hernandez fanned 10 in a no-decision, but was was forced to leave after four innings after throwing 93 pitches.
- Angels OF Kole Calhoun belted his eighth home run of the season in a losing effort.
- Angels SP C.J. Wilson racked up eight strikeouts, but allowed three runs on seven hits and a walk in his eight innings of work.
- Rays OF David DeJesus hit his 7th homer of the year and first as a member of the Rays
- Rays SP Enny Romero pitched well in a spot start tossing 4.2 scoreless innings
- Rays RP Fernando Rodney picked up his 36th save of the season
(51-105) Astros
- 2 at 9 - Indians (86-70)
- Indians SP Corey Kluber struck out six and was charged with just two runs on six hits and a walk over 5 1/3 frames.
- Astros SP Erik Bedard was lit up for six runs over five innings.
- Indians C Carlos Santana had an RBI double and a solo homer.
- Astros 1B Chris Carter homered for the second straight game.
(84-71) Rangers - 0 at 4 - Royals (82-73)
(71-84) Blue Jays - 2 at 5 - Red Sox (95-62)
- Red Sox got homers from Jackie Bradley, Jr. and David Ortiz
- Blue Jays OF Kevin Pillar hit his 2nd homer of the year
- Blue Jays OF Rajai Davis stole his 45th base of the season
- Red Sox SP Felix Doubront picked up his 11th win of the year pitching seven strong innings.
- Red Sox RP Koji Uehara notched his 21st save of the season with a scoreless 9th inning.
(61-94) White Sox - 6 at 3 - Tigers (91-65)
Inter League:
(72-84) Giants - 2 at 1 - Yankees (82-74)
- Giants SP Yusmeiro Petit yielded just one run while striking out seven over 6 1/3 innings.
- Yankees SP Andy Pettitte took a loss despite a great showing in his final Yankee Stadium start Sunday, allowing two runs one just two hits and a walk over seven frames.
- Giants SS Ehire Adrianza smacked his first major league home run.
- Yankees 1B Mark Reynolds ripped a solo homer.

- Rays purchased the contract of RHP J.D. Martin from Triple-A Durham.
- Angels sent RHP Daniel Stange outright to Triple-A Salt Lake.
- Rays designated RHP J.D. Martin for assignment.
- Angels sent RHP David Carpenter outright to Double-A Arkansas.
Injury Updates:
National League:
- Padres 1B Yonder Alonso (hand) is not expected to take any at-bats for the rest of the season.
- Reds OF Shin-Soo Choo is expected to return to the lineup Monday after X-rays on his left thumb came back negative.
- Mets manager Terry Collins said that 3B Wilmer Flores' ankles are still too sore to allow him to play second base.
- Brewers SP Wily Peralta was bothered by a blister on his throwing hand during Sunday's victory over the Cardinals, leading to his poor command.
- Brewers SS Jean Segura (hamstring) could still return before the end of the regular season.
American League:
- Angels SP Jered Weaver (forearm) threw a bullpen session with no issues Sunday.
- SP Bud Norris (elbow) is expected to rejoin the Orioles' rotation on Wednesday.
- Rays RP Jesse Crain (shoulder) is expected to be activated from the disabled list on Monday.
- Red Sox manager John Farrell is "optimistic" that OF Jacoby Ellsbury (foot) can return to the lineup on Wednesday.
- MLB.com's Jason Beck reports that Tigers SS Jose Iglesias (hand) is "nowhere close" to fielding grounders yet.
- Indians SP Justin Masterson (oblique) threw 26 pitches in a simulated game on Sunday.
- Rays 3B Evan Longoria (flu) said that he will return to the Rays starting lineup on Monday.
- Rays OF Desmond Jennings will undergo a precautionary MRI on his injured hamstring.
Notes & Rumors:
National League:
- Padres SP Andrew Cashner will be shut down after Sunday's start against the Dodgers.
- The Phillies have signed manager Ryne Sandberg to a three-year contract extension with a club option for 2017.
- RP Jimmy Nelson will not get a start for the Brewers over the final week of the regular season.
American League:
- Yankees SP Phil Hughes' next turn in the rotation will be skipped.
- SP Tommy Milone will start for the Athletics against the Angels on Monday.
