  • Giants SP Madison Bumgarner coughed up two runs on five hits over six frames.
  • Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw surrendered three runs -- two earned -- on eight hits.

- 4 at 3 - Braves (88-59)
  • Padres 2B Logan Forsythe connected a pinch-hit go-ahead RBI single in the eighth inning.
  • Padres SP Ian Kennedy gave up three runs over six innings in a no-decision.
  • Braves SP David Hale struck out nine batters over five scoreless innings in his major league debut.
  • Braves C Brian McCann swatted a two-run homer.

  • Orioles 1B Chris Davis smacked his 50th home run.
  • Orioles SP Jason Hammel allowed three runs over five innings in a no-decision.
  • Blue Jays SP Todd Redmond yielded one run over 6 1/3 innings in a no-decision.
  • Blue Jays OF Colby Rasmus went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in his return from the disabled list.
(77-70) Royals
- 3 at 6 - Tigers (85-62)
  • Tigers 1B Prince Fielder homered and drove home three runs.
  • Tigers RP Joaquin Benoit slammed the door, coming on to work out of a bases-loaded jam in the eighth inning and working a scoreless ninth to preserve a three-run lead.
  • Tigers SP Justin Verlander picked up his 13th win of the season, allowing three runs on nine hits over 6 2/3 innings.
  • Royals C Salvador Perez had a nice night at the dish, going 2-for-4 with a double and a pair of RBI.
  • Royals RP Bruce Chen was knocked around, surrendering six runs on seven hits over his 4 1/3 innings of work.
(80-66) Rays
- 3 at 0 - Twins (63-83)
  • Rays SS Yunel Escobar went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI.
  • Rays RP Fernando Rodney worked a perfect ninth inning.
  • Rays SP Chris Archer was outstanding, striking out seven while spinning six shutout innings.
  • 3B Trevor Plouffe went 2-for-4 as the Twins were shut out by Chris Archer.
  • Twins SP Kevin Correia delivered a quality start, allowing three runs on eight hits over his six-plus frames.

- 9 at 8 - Rangers (81-65)
  • Athletics RP Sean Doolittle earned his second save of the season.
  • Athletics 3B Josh Donaldson led the offensive attack, going 2-for-3 with a homer and three RBI.
  • Athletics SP Dan Straily picked up his 10th win of the season, allowing two runs on two hits over 5 2/3 innings.
  • Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.
  • Rangers SP Derek Holland lasted just three-plus innings, getting torched for six runs on eight hits.

  • Astros 3B Matt Dominguez blasted a grand slam.
  • Astros SP Dallas Keuchel notched the victory despite giving up six runs over 5 2/3 innings.
  • Angels SP Jason Vargas was hammered for a season-high eight runs in 4 1/3 innings.
  • Angels C Chris Iannetta finished 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a double, and two runs scored.

  • Astros activated OF J.D. Martinez from the 15-day disabled list.
Injury Updates:

National League:

  • Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg was scratched from Friday's scheduled start due to right forearm tightness.
  • Pirates OF Starling Marte said Friday that his hand feels better, but that he's still dealing with some pain.
  • Dodgers SS Hanley Ramirez is dealing with an irritated nerve in his back.
  • Brewers 3B Aramis Ramirez is considered day-to-day after being diagnosed with a left wrist contusion.
  • Rockies SP Drew Pomeranz (biceps) threw two successful innings in a simulated game on Friday.
  • SP Johnny Cueto (back) will throw another bullpen session on Saturday, and if all goes well he could return to the Reds starting rotation on Monday or Tuesday.
  • Braves OF Jason Heyward (jaw) took batting practice on the field on Friday, the first time he had done so since undergoing surgery to repair his broken jaw.
  • Dodgers OF Matt Kemp (ankle) is making progress in his recovery, as he was able to run curves on the field prior to Friday's game against the Giants.
  • Diamondbacks RP J.J. Putz (finger) is expected to throw a simulated game on Saturday.
  • Diamondbacks RP Matt Reynolds (elbow) felt renewed pain during Thursday's side session and will visit a doctor to get checked out again.
  • Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa (thumb) isn't sure whether he'll be able to make his next scheduled start.
  • Braves RP Scott Downs (finger) will see hand specialist Dr. Gary Lourie on Friday.
American League
  • Red Sox OF Jacoby Ellsbury (foot) has resumed some exercises.
  • Rays RP Jesse Crain (shoulder) will face hitters in the next few days if Friday's bullpen session goes well.
  • Astros RP Paul Clemens (blister) will start on Sunday against the Angels.
  • Yankees C Austin Romine (concussion) passed an ImPACT test.
  • Athletics RP Brett Anderson was removed from Friday's game against the Rangers due to back spasms.
  • 3B Alex Rodriguez (hamstring) will continue to serve as the Yankees DH until at least Tuesday.
  • Twins C Joe Mauer (concussion) continued to show improvement on Friday.
