National League:
(76-54) Pirates - 0 at 4 - Giants (58-72)
- Pirates SP A.J. Burnett allowed four runs on eight hits over 7 1/3 innings.
- Giants 1B Brandon Belt went 1-for-4 in his return to the lineup.
- Giants 3B Pablo Sandoval went 2-for-4 with a triple.
- Giants SP Ryan Vogelsong threw eight scoreless innings while striking out five.
(61-71) Rockies - 4 at 3 - Marlins (49-80)
- Rockies RP Rex Brothers walked two in the ninth, but escaped the inning unscathed in earning his 13th save of the season.
- Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa coughed up three runs in five innings, but it was good enough to improve to 14-6.
- Marlins SP Jacob Turner allowed four runs -- three earned -- on six hits over 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision.
(57-73) Brewers - 3 at 1 - Reds (74-57)
- Brewers RP Jim Henderson earned his 21st save despite allowing a run.
- Reds OF Shin-Soo Choo stole two bases.
- Brewers SP Marco Estrada fired seven shutout innings, and allowed only one hit.
- Reds SP Greg Reynolds allowed two runs on five hits over six innings in a loss.
(55-75) Cubs - 2 at 3 - Padres (59-71) (15 innings)
- Cubs OF Junior Lake went 1-for-7 extending his hitting streak to eight games.
- Cubs RP Kevin Gregg suffered a blown save in an extra-inning loss.
- Cubs SP Chris Rusin didn't allow any runs over 6 1/3 innings in a no-decision.
- Padres C Nick Hundley drove in the game-winning run.
- Padres SP Andrew Cashner threw seven scoreless innings while striking out seven in a no-decision.
(66-63) Diamondbacks - 5 at 9 - Phillies (59-71)
- Diamondbacks OF A.J. Pollock went 3-for-4 with a homer, steal, three RBI and two runs scored.
- In his return to the mound, Phillies SP Roy Halladay yielded two runs over six innings in a win.
- Diamondbacks SP Patrick Corbin struggled mightily, allowing nine runs -- eight earned -- on seven hits in 5 1/3 innings
(58-72) Blue Jays - 2 at 1 - Astros (43-86)
- Blue Jays SS Jose Reyes finished 2-for-4 with a walk.
- Blue Jays RP Casey Janssen escaped a bases-loaded jam to earn his 23rd save of the year.
- Blue Jays SP Mark Buehrle fired eight innings of one-run ball.
- Astros RP Chia-Jen Lo imploded during his second blown save, allowing two runs on three walks and a hit.
(57-72) Twins - 1 at 3 - Indians (71-59)
- Indians RP Chris Perez threw a scoreless ninth inning to earn his 21st save.
- Indians SP Scott Kazmir fired six innings of one-run ball, striking out eight, in a no-decision win.
- Twins SP Mike Pelfrey surrendered only one run on two hits and six walks over five innings of a no-decision.
(72-57) Athletics - 3 at 10 - Orioles (70-59)
- Orioles SS J.J. Hardy finished 3-for-4 with a double, homer and three runs scored in a victory.
- Athletics 3B Josh Donaldson went 1-for-2 with a homer, steal, two walks and two RBI.
- Orioles SP Scott Feldman hurled five innings of one-run ball, scattering three hits.
- Athletics SP Sonny Gray was blasted for six runs on eight hits over just 3 1/3 innings.
(69-61) Yankees - 3 at 2 - Rays (74-54) (11 innings)
- Yankees 2B Robinson Cano went 3-for-5 with a double, homer and two RBI.
- Rays OF David DeJesus went 3-for-4 with a run scored.
- Yankees RP Mariano Rivera hurled a perfect 11th inning to pick up his 38th save of the season.
- Rays SP Alex Cobb struggled with his control again, walking three but allowing just two runs over 5 2/3 frames.
(75-55) Rangers - 2 at 5 - White Sox (54-75)
- White Sox RP Addison Reed earned his 35th save of the season by tossing a scoreless ninth inning.
- White Sox SP John Danks earned his fourth win of the season, allowing two runs on eight hits over six innings.
- Rangers SP Matt Garza surrendered five runs -- four earned -- in seven innings.
(58-71) Angels - 7 at 1 - Mariners (59-70)
- Angels SP Jered Weaver gave up one run on three hits over eight innings.
- Mariners 2B Nick Franklin went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in his return to the lineup.
- Mariners 2B Dustin Ackley went 2-for-3 with a home run.
- Mariners SP Aaron Harang was charged with seven runs on nine hits over 5 2/3 innings.
Inter League:
(77-53) Tigers - 11 at 3 - Mets (58-70)
- Tigers 3B Miguel Cabrera went 3-for-4 with a walk, home run, two RBI and two runs scored.
- Mets C Travis d'Arnaud smacked his first career homer.
- Tigers SP Rick Porcello was effective enough, allowing three runs on four hits over his seven innings of work.
- Mets SP Dillon Gee yielded four runs on 10 hits over six innings.
(65-65) Nationals - 4 at 6 - Royals (65-64)
- Royals RP Greg Holland struck out three in a scoreless ninth inning to earn his 35th save of the season.
- Royals C Salvador Perez went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBI.
- Nationals OF Bryce Harper finished 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI.
- Nationals OF Denard Span went 4-for-5 with a solo homer.
(77-55) Red Sox - 8 at 1 - Dodgers (76-54)
- Dodgers SP Chris Capuano was charged with three runs on six hits over five innings.
- Red Sox 3B Xander Bogaerts went 2-for4 with an RBI double.
- Red Sox 1B Mike Napoli went 2-for-4 with a home run.
- Red Sox OF Shane Victorino went 2-for-4 with a home run.
- Red Sox SP Jake Peavy gave up just one run in a complete game effort.

National League:
- Marlins optioned INF Gil Velazquez to Triple-A New Orleans.
- Reds transferred RHP Jonathan Broxton from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
- Phillies transferred RHP Michael Stutes from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
- Phillies transferred RHP Jonathan Pettibone from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
- Phillies optioned RHP Luis Garcia to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
- Phillies optioned RHP Tyler Cloyd to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
- Phillies purchased the contract of RHP J.C. Ramirez from Triple-A Lehigh Valle.
- Reds purchased the contract of RHP Greg Reynolds from Triple-A Louisville.

American League:
- Rays sent OF Jason Bourgeois outright to Triple-A Durham.
- Red Sox optioned RHP Brayan Villarreal to Triple-A Pawtucket.
- Red Sox activated LHP Matt Thornton from the 15-day disabled list.
- Indians activated RHP Josh Tomlin from the 60-day disabled list, optioned him to Triple-A Columbus.
- Royals recalled LHP Will Smith from Triple-A Omaha.
- Royals placed RHP Luke Hochevar on the paternity leave list.
Injury Updates:
National League:
- Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez (finger) could be cleared to take batting practice this week.
- Cubs OF Nate Schierholtz left Sunday's game with a back injury.
- Padres SP Cory Luebke (elbow) is scheduled to throw two side sessions this week.
- Dodgers SP Josh Beckett (shoulder) will resume a throwing program next week.
- Troy Renck of the Denver Post hears that Rockies SS Troy Tulowitzki's oblique injury isn't considered to be a big deal.
- Giants RP Jeremy Affeldt (groin) could face hitters early next week.
- Giants SP Matt Cain (forearm) expects to begin throwing sometime this week.
- Padres manager Bud Black said Saturday that OF Carlos Quentin (knee) has shown "marked improvement" over the last two days while running on a treadmill.
- Diamondbacks RP J.J. Putz (finger) is expected to be activated from the disabled list when first eligible on September 8.
American League:
- Red Sox SP Clay Buchholz (shoulder) was charged with three runs on one hit over one inning of work in his first rehab start Sunday with Short-Season Lowell.
- White Sox OF Avisail Garcia passed concussion tests after colliding with the outfield wall in Sunday's game.
- Athletics OF Josh Reddick left Sunday's game against the Orioles after aggravating his right wrist injury.
- Angels 2B Howie Kendrick (knee) has yet to run at full speed.
- Rays OF Brandon Guyer (finger) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Durham Sunday.
- Astros C Carlos Corporan is still having concussion-related symptoms.
- Rangers OF Leonys Martin (ankle) expects to only miss one game.
- SP Brett Anderson (foot) could rejoin the Athletics' rotation on Tuesday.

National League:
- The Phillies are still negotiating with Cuban right-hander Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez.
American League:
- The Astros will recall RP Paul Clemens to start Tuesday against the White Sox.
- The Athletics are expected to recall 1B Daric Barton from Triple-A Sacramento.
- Red Sox SP Ryan Dempster could be booted from the rotation when Clay Buchholz (shoulder) returns from the disabled list.
