Yesterday's Notable Stat Lines:
(73-51) Pirates - 3 at 1 - Padres (56-69)
- Pirates RP Mark Melancon earned his eighth save of the season despite allowing a run on two hits.
- Pirates 3B Pedro Alvarez finished 2-for-4 with a homer and two runs scored.
- Pirates SP Francisco Liriano spun seven shutout innings, striking out a season-high 13 batters in a victory.
- Padres SP Andrew Cashner permitted three runs -- one earned -- on five hits over seven innings.
(72-52) Dodgers - 2 at 6 - Marlins (48-75)
- Marlins SP Jose Fernandez allowed two runs -- one earned -- in six innings and struck out eight.
- Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton went 2-for-4 and hit his 15th homer.
- Dodgers OF Yasiel Puig went hitless in a second straight game, finishing 0-for-5.
(64-59) Diamondbacks - 3 at 5 - Reds (71-54)
(72-52) Cardinals - 8 at 5 - Brewers (54-71)
- Cardinals OF Carlos Beltran went 3-for-5 with a home run.
- Cardinals SP Shelby Miller fanned eight while allowing two runs in 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision.
- Brewers 3B Aramis Ramirez homered for just his second hit in six games back from the disabled list.
(58-68) Rockies - 4 at 5 - Phillies (55-69)
- Phillies OF John Mayberry Jr. hit a three-run homer.
- Phillies SP Ethan Martin pitched 6 1/3 innings of two-run ball.
- Phillies RP Jonathan Papelbon notched his first save since July 11 with a scoreless ninth.
- Rockies SS Troy Tulowitzki went 2-for-3 with a homer and a walk.
(60-64) Nationals - 1 at 11 - Cubs (54-70)
(41-83) Astros - 5 at 16 - Rangers (72-53)
- Rangers C A.J. Pierzynski went 4-for-5 with a homer, a double and four RBI.
- Astros SP Lucas Harrell was pummeled for nine runs -- seven earned -- in 2 1/3 innings.
- Rangers OF Leonys Martin went 3-for-4 with a walk, two RBI and three runs scored.
(67-58) Indians - 5 at 2 - Angels (55-69)
- Angels 1B Mark Trumbo went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI.
- Indians SP Zach McAllister spread five hits and one run over 6 1/3 frames in a victory.
- Angels SP Jered Weaver surrendered four runs on eight hits over six innings.
- Indians 3B Lonnie Chisenhall went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI.
(71-52) Rays - 4 at 3 - Orioles (67-57)
- Rays SP David Price lasted just five innings, but he got the win after allowing two runs and 10 hits.
- Orioles C Matt Wieters went 3-for-5 and hit his 16th homer.
(57-67) Mariners - 1 at 2 - Athletics (71-53)
- Athletics 1B Brandon Moss swatted a walk-off solo homer.
- Athletics SP Jarrod Parker tossed his first career complete game, allowing just one run on eight hits.
- Mariners SP Aaron Harang allowed only one run on five hits over seven innings.
Inter League:
(57-66) Mets - 6 at 1 - Twins (54-69)
- Mets SP Dillon Gee picked up his 9th win of the season on 7.2 innings of shutout ball
- Twins SP Kyle Gibson was rocked for 10 hits and four runs in just 3.2 innings.
- Mets OF Marlon Byrd hit his 20th homer of the year.
(74-53) Red Sox - 7 at 0 - Giants (55-69)
- Red Sox C Jarrod Saltalamacchia finished 2-for-4 with a walk, double, RBI and two runs scored.
- Red Sox OF Shane Victorino went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
- Red Sox SP Jon Lester hurled 8 1/3 shutout innings while allowing only six hits.
- Giants SP Tim Lincecum was abused for five runs on nine hits over five innings.

- Pirates OF Travis Snider (toe) will begin a rehab assignment Monday with Double-A Altoona.
- Giants OF Angel Pagan (hamstring) is expected back September 1.
- RP Edward Mujica was unavailable for the Cardinals' weekend series in Chicago due to general fatigue.
- Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez (finger) could begin swinging a bat on Wednesday.
- Dodgers manager Don Mattingly admitted Monday that OF Matt Kemp (ankle) is unlikely to return before September.
- Diamondbacks RP Matt Reynolds (elbow) has been throwing from a distance of 100 feet.
- C Miguel Montero (back) was scheduled to catch in a rehab game with the Diamondbacks' Arizona League club Monday.
- Pirates SP Wandy Rodriguez (forearm) is scheduled to throw a 40-pitch bullpen session Monday.
- Padres manager Bud Black estimated Monday that OF Carlos Quentin (knee) has a 50/50 shot to return this season.
- Padres OF Cameron Maybin has been pulled off his rehab assignment again and will have his left knee evaluated by team doctors.
- Rockies SP Tyler Chatwood (elbow) threw a successful 60-pitch bullpen session Monday.

- Angels OF Mike Trout was removed from Sunday's game against the Astros with tightness in his right hamstring.
- Yankees SS Derek Jeter (calf) fielded grounders and took batting practice on Sunday in Tampa, Florida.
- Yankees SS Eduardo Nunez was forced from Sunday's game against the Red Sox with a tight right hamstring.
- Rays SP Matt Moore (elbow) felt encouraged after playing catch Monday.
- The Red Sox are hoping to get 1B Mike Napoli (foot) back in the lineup Tuesday.
