- Braves OF Justin Upton homered twice and drove in five runs.
- Braves SP Julio Teheran matched his personal best with 11 strikeouts while allowing one run in five innings.
- Making his major league debut, Rockies SP Chad Bettis gave up five runs in five innings.
- Braves 3B Chris Johnson went 3-for-5 with a couple of RBI.
(63-44) Cardinals - 13 at 0 - Pirates (65-43)
- Cardinals RP Joe Kelly didnt give up a run for six innings.
- Cardinals OF Jon Jay went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and three runs scored.
- Cardinals 1B Allen Craig broke out of his slump by going 2-for-5 with a two-run double.
(58-49) Dodgers - 6 at 4 - Cubs (49-59)
- Dodgers OF Yasiel Puig homered, doubled and walked.
- Cubs SP Chris Rusin surrendered four runs and seven hits in five-plus innings.
- Cubs OF Junior Lake hit his third and fourth homers as a major leaguer.
- Cubs 1B Anthony Rizzo hit a pair of solo homers and walked.
(48-59) Giants - 2 at 1 - Phillies (50-58)
- Thanks to a ninth-inning rally, Giants SP Matt Cain picked up his seventh win after allowing one run over eight innings.
- Phillies SP Cole Hamels didnt give up any runs for eight innings, but he was denied a win by a Jonathan Papelbon blown save.
- Phillies RP Jonathan Papelbon took a blown save and a loss after giving up two runs in the ninth.
- Giants OF Jeff Francoeur went 0-for-3 before being removed for a pinch-hitter and is 0-for-15 in his last four games.
(40-66) White Sox - 1 at 6 - Indians (60-48)
- Indians OF Ryan Raburn smacked two home runs.
- Indians SP Justin Masterson allowed one run in 6 2/3 innings to earn his 13th win.
- White Sox OF Alejandro De Aza slugged his 13th home run of the 2013 season.
- White Sox SP Chris Sale was hammered for 10 hits and five earned runs over five innings.
(50-58) Blue Jays - 2 at 8 - Angels (49-58)
- Angels RP Garrett Richards gave up just two runs over seven innings.
- Blue Jays SP Josh Johnson was hammered for seven runs (six earned) over 2 1/3 innings.
- Angels OF Kole Calhoun went 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored, and a stolen base.
- Blue Jays C J.P. Arencibia was hitless in three at-bats.
(36-71) Astros - 3 at 6 - Orioles (60-49)
- Orioles SP Bud Norris beat his old team by allowing two runs over six innings and striking out eight.
- Orioles 1B Chris Davis went 2-for-4 and hit his 39th homer.
- Astros 1B Brett Wallace hit his seventh homer off former teammate Bud Norris.

- Red Sox OF Daniel Nava delivered a walkoff single in the bottom of the ninth.
- Red Sox SP Ryan Dempster was tagged for seven runs in six innings.
- Mariners SP Felix Hernandez allowed one run in seven innings and struck out eight.
- After coming in with a 7-2 lead, Mariners RP Tom Wilhelmsen was charged with four runs without ever retiring a batter.
- Mariners DH Kendrys Morales went 4-for-5 to raise his average to .291.
- Mariners C Henry Blanco hit his second grand slam of the year.
(54-51) Royals - 7 at 2 - Twins (45-60)
- Royals SP James Shields allowed two runs in six innings.
- Twins SP Scott Diamond was tagged for seven runs (six earned) over five innings.
- Making his Royals' debut, OF Justin Maxwell finished 1-for-3 with an RBI single and a walk.
- Twins 1B Justin Morneau went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and a double.
Inter League:
(55-53) Diamondbacks - 1 at 7 - Rangers (60-49)
- Rangers SP Yu Darvish matched his career high with 14 strikeouts over seven scoreless innings.
- Diamondbacks RP Zeke Spruill gave up five runs and three homers in four innings to take the loss.
- Rangers C A.J. Pierzynski went 3-for-4 with a homer, three RBI and his first stolen base in three years.
- Rangers OF David Murphy went 3-for-4 and hit his 12th homer.

- Blue Jays activated RHP Sergio Santos from the 60-day disabled list.

- Blue Jays placed RHP Dustin McGowan on the 15-day disabled list with a strained oblique.

- Phillies OF Domonic Brown (concussion) swung a bat Thursday for the first time since being placed on the 7-day disabled list.
- Rockies RP Edgmer Escalona could require a trip to the disabled list due to a sore left calf.
- Pirates SP Wandy Rodriguez (forearm) will not return before September, at the earliest.
- Giants RP Jeremy Affeldt (groin) played light catch on Thursday.
American League:
- Twins OF Josh Willingham (knee) is expected to begin a rehab assignment this weekend with Triple-A Rochester.
- Red Sox SP Clay Buchholz (shoulder) played long toss on Wednesday.
- An MRI taken Tuesday on Royals OF Lorenzo Cain's tight groin showed no structural damage of any kind.
- Red Sox SP Clay Buchholz (shoulder) could know by Sunday when he'll be cleared to throw from a mound.
- Orioles SP Jason Hammel (forearm) will undergo an MRI on Friday.
- 3B Wilson Betemit (knee) will begin a minor league rehab assignment next Tuesday with the Orioles' Gulf Coast League affiliate.
- Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez (quad) participated in a simulated game Thursday.
- Angels DH Albert Pujols will not have surgery to repair the partial tear of his left plantar fascia.

National League:
- Phillies SP Ethan Martin will make a spot start on Friday night against the Braves.
- Giants manager Bruce Bochy will announce Friday who will start Sunday against the Rays.
- Rockies SS Troy Tulowitzki was ejected from Thursday's game against the Braves for arguing balls and strikes.
American League:
- FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal was told Thursday afternoon that Rangers DH Lance Berkman is not going to retire.
- The Twins will recall outfielder Oswaldo Arcia from Triple-A Rochester on Friday.
- SP Jake Peavy will make his debut with the Red Sox on Saturday against the Diamondbacks.
- Royals DH Billy Butler will not start any of the three games during this weekend's series against the Mets.
