Yesterday's Notable Stat Lines:
(46-56) Mets - 1 at 14 - Nationals (52-54)
- Nationals OF Denard Span went 4-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored.
- Nationals SS Ian Desmond finished 4-for-4 with a walk, two doubles, two RBI, and three runs scored.
- Nationals SP Taylor Jordan twirled six innings of one-run ball to earn his first major league win.
- The clock struck midnight on Mets RP Carlos Torres, as he was crushed for eight runs on nine hits over three innings in a lopsided loss.
(48-58) Padres - 1 at 0 - Diamondbacks (54-51)
- Padres 3B Chase Headley hit a triple.
- Padres RP Huston Street tossed a perfect ninth inning to earn his 19th save of the season.
- Padres RP Tyson Ross dealt eight shutout innings and allowed just three hits.
- Diamondbacks SP Patrick Corbin allowed one run on six hits over eight innings.
(61-42) Pirates - 2 at 3 - Marlins (40-63)
- Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton went 2-for-3 and launched a solo homer.
- Marlins RP Steve Cishek earned his fifth save in one week's time tossing a scoreless ninth inning.
- Marlins SP Jose Fernandez fired eight innings of two-run ball and struck out a career-high 13 batters.
- Pirates SP Gerrit Cole surrendered three earned runs on four hits and two walks over seven innings.
(62-40) Cardinals - 2 at 5 - Braves (60-45)
- Braves RP Craig Kimbrel picked up his 31st save.
- Braves SP Kris Medlen allowed two runs on eight hits and had four strikeouts over six innings in a win.
- Braves OF Jason Heyward went 2-for-4 with a home run.
- Cardinals SP Shelby Miller was charged with two runs on six hits over 5 2/3 innings.
(43-61) Brewers - 5 at 6 - Rockies (51-55)
(48-55) Cubs - 2 at 1 - Giants (46-58)
- Cubs RP Kevin Gregg worked a scoreless ninth inning to earn his 22nd save.
- Giants 3B Pablo Sandoval finished 1-for-2 with a double and two walks.
- Cubs SP Travis Wood surrendered one run -- none earned -- on four hits over seven innings.
- Giants SP Tim Lincecum gave up just two runs on four hits over seven innings.
(59-47) Reds - 0 at 1 - Dodgers (56-48) (11 innings)
- Reds 1B Joey Votto went 2-for-4 with a double.
- Reds SP Tony Cingrani threw seven scoreless innings in a no-decision while striking out eleven.
- Dodgers OF Yasiel Puig hit a walkoff home run in the 11th inning.
- Dodgers SP Chris Capuano didn't allow any runs over 6 2/3 innings in his start and allowed only three hits.
(62-43) Rays - 5 at 6 - Yankees (55-50)
- Rays SP Matt Moore allowed five earned runs in five innings.
- Rays OF Wil Myers homered twice.
- Yankees DH Derek Jeter homered in his first at-bat off the disabled list.
- Yankees OF Alfonso Soriano had four hits, including a walkoff RBI single.
(56-49) Rangers - 0 at 6 - Indians (56-48)
- Indians SP Ubaldo Jimenez allowed just two hits and three walks over eight shutout innings.
- Rangers SP Alexi Ogando lasted just 4 2/3 innings, yielding a run on six hits and two walks.
- Indians SS Mike Aviles smacked a two-run homer.
(63-43) Red Sox - 5 at 0 - Orioles (58-48)
- Red Sox C Jarrod Saltalamacchia went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI.
- Red Sox SP Jon Lester hurled seven shutout innings, striking out eight.
- Orioles SP Jason Hammel scuffled in a loss, allowing three runs on six hits and five walks over 5 1/3 innings.
- Red Sox DH David Ortiz finished 4-for-4 with a two-run homer.

- Royals OF Jarrod Dyson went 2-for-4 with a walk, two stolen bases and a run scored.
- Royals RP Greg Holland danced around a pair of singles to earn his 27th save of the season.
- Royals RP Bruce Chen surrendered two runs on three hits over six innings.
- White Sox SP Hector Santiago allowed two runs on five hits over 6 2/3 innings in a no-decision.

- Mariners 2B Nick Franklin went 3-for-4 with two home runs.
- Mariners SP Erasmo Ramirez allowed four runs on seven hits and had six strikeouts over six innings.

- Twins SP Kyle Gibson allowed five runs on seven hits over five innings.

- Astros SP Jarred Cosart went 6 innings allowing just one earned run in a no decision.
- Blue Jays SP Todd Redmond went 6 innings striking out 10 in a no decision.
- Astros 1B Brett Wallace hit his 6th homer of the year.
(48-55) Angels - 6 at 10 - Athletics (62-43)
- Athletics OF Yoenis Cespedes finished 3-for-5 with two doubles and four RBI.
- Angels SS Erick Aybar stuffed the stat sheet, going 2-for-3 with a double, triple, two walks, a steal, an RBI and a run scored.
- Athletics SP Jarrod Parker allowed six runs on five hits and seven walks in a no-decision win.
- Angels SP Tommy Hanson surrendered five runs on four hits over 4 2/3 innings in a no-decision.

- Rockies recalled LHP Jeff Francis from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

- Pirates recalled C Tony Sanchez from Triple-A Indianapolis.
- Pirates placed OF Travis Snider on the 15-day disabled list with a left big toe injury.

American League:
- Yankees optioned INF David Adams to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

- Yankees placed DH Travis Hafner on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 27, with right rotator cuff strain.
- Astros released INF Ronny Cedeno.
- Angels recalled OF Kole Calhoun from Triple-A Salt Lake.
- Angels placed 1B/DH Albert Pujols on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 27, with a partial tear of the left plantar fascia.
- Orioles designated RHP Jairo Asencio for assignment.
- Orioles recalled OF L.J. Hoes from Triple-A Norfolk.
- Yankees activated SS Derek Jeter from the 15-day disabled list.
- Twins optioned C Drew Butera to Triple-A Rochester.
Injury Updates:
National League:
- Pirates C Michael McKenry could require a trip to the disabled list after injuring his left knee on a slide into second base Saturday.
- Rockies manager Walt Weiss said Saturday that OF Carlos Gonzalez will likely have to deal with his sprained right middle finger for the rest of the season.
- Rockies SP Roy Oswalt (hamstring) threw a 15-pitch bullpen session at about 80 percent on Friday.
- Reds manager Dusty Baker was pleased with how RP Jonathan Broxton (elbow) looked during live batting practice on Saturday
- Reds C Ryan Hanigan is still dealing with soreness in his left wrist and is unsure when he'll be activated from the disabled list.
- Brewers SP Marco Estrada (hamstring) will resume a rehab assignment with the Brewers' Arizona League club on Monday.
- Brewers SS Jean Segura (forearm) is hoping to be back in the lineup on Monday.
- Dodgers SP Stephen Fife (shoulder) allowed one run on three hits over seven innings in his second rehab start Sunday with Triple-A Albuquerque.
American League:
- Athletics SP Brett Anderson (foot) will throw another bullpen session on Tuesday.
- Angels DH Albert Pujols (foot) could be sidelined for the rest of the season.
- Royals OF Lorenzo Cain (groin) is expected to be ready to rejoin the lineup on Tuesday.
- Yankees manager Joe Girardi said it's possible OF Curtis Granderson (finger) could be activated from the disabled list next weekend.
- Rays SP Alex Cobb (concussion, blister) won't make his next rehab start until at least Tuesday.
- Yankees SS Jayson Nix (hamstring) is expected to be activated from the disabled list on Tuesday.
- Rangers SP Matt Harrison (back) said he expects to begin a rehab assignment Wednesday.
- Rangers SP Colby Lewis (elbow) allowed three runs on four hits over five innings in a rehab start Sunday with Double-A Frisco.
- Twins 2B Brian Dozier left Sunday's game with lower back stiffness.
- Royals 2B Johnny Giavotella (hip) is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday.

National League:
- Troy Renck of the Denver Post reports the Rockies will likely call up SP Chad Bettis to start Thursday against the Braves.
- Yahoo! Sports' Tim Brown reports that Giants RP Brian Wilson is hoping to join someone's major league bullpen by mid-August.
- FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Mariners are interested in Padres OF Kyle Blanks.
- Padres 3B Chase Headley has reached base in 21 straight games.
- Brewers RP Tyler Thornburg is expected to start one of the games during Tuesday's doubleheader against the Cubs.
- Phillies SS Jimmy Rollins indicated Sunday he would not be willing to waive his no-trade clause if asked.
American League:
- Dan Hayes of CSNChicago.com reports that the Athletics are "in front" in the bidding for White Sox SP Jake Peavy.
- CBS Sports' Jon Heymanr reports that the Angels are willing to trade RP Scott Downs.
- Joel Sherman and Ken Davidoff of the New York Post report that Major League Baseball could suspend Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez though the end of the 2014 season due to his connection with the Biogenesis clinic.
