- Dodgers OF Yasiel Puig hit a solo home run.
- Dodgers SP Stephen Fife allowed two runs -- one earned -- over six innings in a no-decision.
(37-37) Rockies - 1 at 5 - Nationals (36-36)
- Nationals 1B Adam LaRoche went 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBI.
- Rockies SP Roy Oswalt struck out 11 in his debut, but he took a loss after giving up four runs in five innings.
- Nationals SP Jordan Zimmermann allowed just an unearned run over eight innings and struck out nine Thursday in beating the Rockies.
(28-41) Mets - 4 at 3 - Braves (43-31)
- Mets 3B David Wright went 3-for-4 with a pair of homers in the Mets' 4-3 victory over the Braves on Thursday.
- Braves SP Mike Minor gave up four runs and three homers in six innings.
(23-49) Marlins - 2 at 1 - Giants (37-35)
- Marlins RP Steve Cishek struck out two in a scoreless ninth for his 11th save.
- Marlins SP Tom Koehler spun seven innings of one-run ball.
- Marlins OF Marcell Ozuna's hit a two-run, pinch-hit single in the eight inning.
(44-31) Red Sox - 3 at 4 - Tigers (40-31)
- Red Sox SP John Lackey wasn't involved in the decision after allowing two runs in seven innings.
- Tigers RP Drew Smyly struck out four in two scoreless innings of relief for his third victory.
- Tigers SP Jose Alvarez pitched five innings of two-run ball in a no-decision.
- Tigers SS Jhonny Peralta hit a walkoff homer off Andrew Bailey.
(43-32) Athletics - 3 at 4 - Rangers (41-32)
- Rangers SP Josh Lindblom labored through five innings, allowing two runs on eight hits and two walks.
- Athletics SP A.J. Griffin allowed just two runs but lasted only 5 1/3 innings.
- Rangers C Geovany Soto belted a solo homer.
- Athletics SS Jed Lowrie went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.

- Angels SP Tommy Hanson was skewered for seven runs on six hits and two walks over just two innings.
- Mariners 3B Kyle Seager went off, going 4-for-5 with two doubles, a homer, three RBI and three runs scored.
- Mariners SP Felix Hernandez was roughed up for seven runs -- six earned -- on 12 hits.
- Angels OF Mike Trout continued to shred opposing pitching, reaching base in all five plate appearances and stealing a base.

- Astros 1B Carlos Pena ripped a three-run, walk-off homer.
- Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy singled and smashed a solo homer.

- Rockies purchased the contract of RHP Roy Oswalt from Double-A Tulsa.

- Pirates optioned OF Alex Presely to Triple-A Indianapolis.
- Padres acquired C Chris Robinson from the Orioles for a player to be named later.

- Tigers recalled LHP Jose Alvarez from Triple-A Toledo.
- Angels signed OF Luis Montanez to a minor league contract; assigned him to Double-A Arkansas.
- Red Sox prospect Garin Cecchini has been promoted from High-A Salem to Double-A Portland.
- White Sox optioned RHP Deunte Heath to Triple-A Charlotte.
- Astros placed OF Trevor Crowe on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder.
- Mariners released C Kelly Shoppach.
- Rangers optioned RHP Josh Lindblom to Triple-A Round Rock.

- Brewers OF Ryan Braun may need a full month to heal his thumb.
- Reds OF Chris Heisey (hamstring) is expected to return from the disabled list next Tuesday in Oakland.
- Braves RP Luis Ayala has been cleared to begin a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett.
- Nationals manager Davey Johnson said that OF Bryce Harper (knee) will hit in the batting cage on Thursday.
- Rockies OF Dexter Fowler tested his right ring finger in the batting cage on Thursday.
- Rockies SS Troy Tulowitzki (rib) could do light baseball activity as soon as Monday.
- Cardinals SP Chris Carpenter will undergo an examination on his back.
- Nationals manager Davey Johnson said Thursday that C Wilson Ramos (hamstring) should be playing rehab games within 10 days.
- Padres manager Bud Black indicated that 2B Jedd Gyorko (groin) will return from the disabled list next week.
- Padres manager Bud Black still thinks OF Carlos Quentin (shoulder) will avoid the disabled list.
- Padres 1B Yonder Alonso (hand) hopes to be cleared to begin baseball activities on Monday after visiting a hand specialist.
- Mets SP Jon Niese left Thursday's start against the Braves with left shoulder discomfort.
- Braves 2B Dan Uggla is dealing with vision issues and could wind up undergoing Lasik surgery.
- Giants OF Angel Pagan had to be carted off after apparently reinjuring his hamstring on his rehab assignment on Thursday.
- Giants 3B Pablo Sandoval's (foot) rehab assignment with High-A San Jose has been moved up from Saturday to Friday.
- Giants pitching prospect Kyle Crick (oblique) will rejoin High-A San Jose's rotation on Friday.
- Nationals RP Ryan Mattheus (hand) played catch on Thursday for about 10 minutes.
- Mets SP Jon Niese will leave Friday to have his left shoulder examined in New York.
- Dodgers manager Don Mattingly is hopeful that OF Matt Kemp (hamstring) will be ready to begin a rehab assignment early next week.
- Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Thursday that OF Carl Crawford (hamstring) is not close to a rehab assignment.
- Dodgers OF Scott Van Slyke (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday.
- Dodgers SP Ted Lilly (neck) could throw a bullpen session sometime over the weekend.

- White Sox SP Jake Peavy (rib) spent 30 minutes riding a stationary bike on Thursday and reported feeling fine.
- Rangers 1B Mitch Moreland (hamstring) is expected to be activated from the disabled list this Friday.
- Rays manager Joe Maddon said that SP Alex Cobb (concussion) has some "fluid buildup" in his ear.
- Orioles SP Wei-Yin Chen (oblique) threw a three-inning simulated game in Sarasota on Thursday.
- Orioles SP Jason Hammel (illness) will start Friday against the Blue Jays.
- Athletics RP Jordan Norberto (elbow) underwent successful Tommy John surgery on Thursday.
- CBS Sports' Jon Heyman was told by one person around the Yankees that 3B Alex Rodriguez is making "fantastic" progress from hip surgery.

- Red Sox RP Clayton Mortensen (hip) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Thursday with Triple-A Pawtucket.
- Tigers C Alex Avila (forearm) could begin a minor league rehab assignment this weekend.
- Blue Jays SP J.A. Happ (head, knee) is shooting to rejoin the rotation around the All-Star break.
- Red Sox OF Mike Carp (hamstring) has been cleared to play.
- Yankees OF Curtis Granderson had the pin removed from his fractured left pinkie finger Thursday.
- Mariners OF Jason Bay said Thursday that his tight hamstring feels "10 times better" and he expects to return in a day or two.

- Tigers manager Jim Leyland said Thursday that he'll lean toward RP Joaquin Benoit for save opportunities.

- Blue Jays RP Brett Cecil has faced 38 consecutive batters without allowing a base hit, a Blue Jays franchise record.
- Rays SP Alex Colome will make a spot start for the Rays on Saturday afternoon against the Yankees.
