Trot Times for April 10

Thirty more home runs around the league on Wednesday even with two games rained out. Twenty of them can be attributed to just four games. What does this tell us about the season so far? Nothing, except that...

It's time to get to the trots!

Home Run of the Day: Juan Francisco, Atlanta Braves - 23.45 seconds [video]
Everyone is talking about the Bryce Harper bomb above but nothing was hit farther on Wednesday night than this shot by Francisco. The ball bounces off the advertisement facade of the second deck in Marlins Park in nearly straight-away center field. That's a blast!

Slowest Trot: Billy Butler, Kansas City Royals - 26.26 seconds [video]
There's just nothing he can do. Billy Butler is a slow, slow man. This trot beat out Houston's Chris Carter by nearly two seconds for the slowest of the night.

Quickest Trot: Bryce Harper, Washington Nationals - 18.72 seconds [video]
To be fair, this home run by Harper into the second deck at Nationals Park is a blast to watch. And, at 420 feet (according to Hit Tracker Online), it was no mirage caused by the foul pole. It's just that the Francisco homer actually traveled 459 feet. As for the trot, it was a nice, brisk effort from Harper, though not nearly as fast as he can do it.
