Tater Trot Tracker

Division Series, Games 2 & 3

by Larry Granillo

Tuesday's Trots

The Bay Area stayed alive in the 2012 playoffs on Tuesday night with a pair of low-scoring victories. The Giants beat the Reds with only three hits and a lot of help on the basepaths (especially a late error by Scott Rolen) while the A's bested Detroit by keeping them scoreless in a 2-0 game. Coco Crisp and Yoenis Cespedes both took away extra base hits from Prince Fielder in doing so.

Thankfully, we weren't shut out on the Tater Trot Tracker last night. Seth Smith made the game 2-0 with a home run over the center field wall in the fifth inning. He trotted home in 19.9 seconds. (video)

Monday's Trots

The Orioles and Yankees played a tight game on Monday as Baltimore tried to avoid heading into New York down two games to none. They managed to scrape out the victory, but did so without hitting a home run. In St. Louis, on the other hand, balls were flying out like crazy. Ryan Zimmerman and Adam LaRoche provided some offense for Washington, but it was really the Cards and Carlos Beltran who owned the day. Beltran's two homers were a big reason St. Louis took the game 12-4. Daniel Descalso and Allen Craig also helped.

Carlos Beltran #2..22.2
Adam LaRoche.......22.09
Ryan Zimmerman.....21.67
Carlos Beltran #1..21.5
Daniel Descalso....18.01
