In April 2013, Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures will release "42", a new movie telling the story of Jackie Robinson. The film stars Chadwick Boseman as Jackie and Harrison Ford as Branch Rickey. Also featured in the film are great character actors Alan Tudyk, Christopher Meloni, and John C. McGinley. The new trailer for the movie was released yesterday and it looks fantastic. See for yourself.
Super nervous and excited about this. Jackie Robinson is my hero and I so want to see this but I so want it to be awesome. It would be crushing if it doesn't well.
It looks pretty good. And it's a great story anyway so somebody would have to really screw up to make it bad. Questionable choice on the soundtrack though. Maybe there's a better world where you can make this movie and Jay-Z doesn't compose an obligatory song but I fear that only my children's children will to see that world. I like Jay-Z as much as the next guy but enough already.
On the YouTube site, there's a lot of people saying they should just use period music. On the other hand, I can understand using Jay-Z to appeal to young African Americans and it didn't seem like the lyrics were explicit/offensive from the snippet I heard.
Something else people have said is that, while the actor playing Jackie Robinson looks a lot like him, his voice is much different from the real life Jackie Robinson.
