Trot Times for June 11

Monday was one of those super-light days, with only four games on the schedule. If it weren't for four home runs in the Nationals/Blue Jays game, we'd have only two trots to look at today. Sadly, those four homers hit north of the border featured neither Brett Lawrie nor Bryce Harper. The Angles/Dodgers game didn't disappoint, however.

Let's get to the trots!

Home Run of the Day: Mike Trout, Los Angeles Angels - 23.1 seconds [video]
I spend a lot of time getting excited about Bryce Harper here at the Tater Trot Tracker. Much of that is due to the hype surrounding him prior to his debut and how quickly he's been able to acclimate to the big leagues. The big reason for my Harper excitement, however, is just how entertaining he is during his home run trots. That's what this blog is all about, after all.

All that is to say that there's a good reason Mike Trout doesn't get as many mentions here. His trots just aren't that interesting. The rest of his play on the field, however, is phenomenal. Trout is 20 years old and doesn't seem to be bothered at all by everything in front of him. It's amazing to watch, and that is why his bomb to the leftfield corner of Dodger Stadium gets Home Run of the Day.

Slowest Trot: Adam LaRoche, Washington Nationals - 24.12 seconds [video]
There was nothing particularly egregious about this trot from LaRoche. It's just what happens when there are only six home runs hit throughout the entire league on a given night. Trout had the second slowest trot of the night.

Quickest Trot: Yan Gomes, Toronto Blue Jays - 19.06 seconds [video]
Not a bad time for the quickest trot of the night, considering the slim pickings. Raul Ibanez wasn't too far behind, rounding the bases in 19.6 seconds.
