A New Stadium for a New Year
by Larry Granillo
As we welcome in a new year - one in which we get to see a brand new stadium open - here's a look at how a new team and new stadium were welcomed into the league nearly 60 years ago.
From the May 1953 "Baseball Digest", shortly after the Boston Braves moved to Milwaukee.
Most interesting, the caption points out that the new stadium cost $5 million and seats 36,011. The new Marlins ballpark cost roughly $515 million and will seat 37,000.

The first 36,011 seats are easy.
Each additional seat lowers the expected cost benefit.
