Trot Times for May 26

A light day for games, and a light day for home runs. In the eight games played on Thursday, only 12 home runs were hit. As this three day weekend begins, I suspect we'll a few more than that over the holiday.

Let's get to the trots!

Home Run of the Day: Chase Utley, Philadelphia Phillies - 21.63 seconds [video]
About 45 minutes after Wednesday night's game ended, the Phillies and Reds met again to finish the series. Or so it seemed, at least. Jay Bruce hit yet another home run in the game, but the Home Run of the Day goes to Chase Utley, who hit his first home run of the year in only his fourth game of the season. Consider Utley is the best player on the Phillies who doesn't pitch every five days, seeing him back healthy and productive is a great thing.

Slowest Trot: Miguel Montero, Arizona Diamondbacks - 25.28 seconds [video]
The spread of trot times today was not very wide at all. If it weren't for three players, we'd be stuck looking at trots between 21 and 22 seconds long. Pretty boring. Thank you, Miguel Montero, for your three-run bomb.

Quickest Trot: Mark Trumbo, Los Angeles Angels - 19.52 seconds [video]
And thank you to Mark Trumbo and Kosuke Fukudome, too, for being the only players to drop below 20 seconds on the basepathers on Thursday. Mark Trumbo is only 54 games into his big league career, but it's pretty clear the kid knows how to hit home runs. Now if he can get that avg/obp up above .245/.298 he might have a case for Rookie of the Year.
