A quick cruise through last night's playoff action . . .

  • Dustin Ackley, 2B, Mariners (Triple-A Tacoma): 3-for-5, HR (1), 3 R, 5 RBI. Best Triple-A showing of the year in game two of the playoffs.
  • Engel Beltre, OF, Rangers (Double-A Frisco): 2-for-4, HR (1), 2 R, 3 RBI. .254/.301/.337 line in 47 Double-A games put damper on explosive first half; still doesn't turn 21 until November.
  • Darrell Ceciliani, OF, Mets (Short-season Brooklyn): 2-for-3, 2B, R, 2 RBI, BB, K, SB. Speedster has swiped four bags in three playoff games; on my list of prospects that don't get the attention their talent deserves.
  • Connor Crumbliss, 2B, Athletics (Low-A Kane County): 2-for-2, HR (1), R, 2 RBI, 2 BB, CS. I'm not sure how much of a prospect he is, but I love watching him play.
  • Matt Dominguez, 3B, Marlins (Double-A Jacksonville): 2-for-4, HR (1), R, RBI. Defense alone gives him a Pedro Feliz floor, but actually put up decent numbers for a 20-year-old in Double-A.
  • Danny Duffy, LHP, Royals (Double-A Northwest Arkansas): 5.2 IP, 4 H, 1 R (0 ER), 3 BB, 10 K. Very impressive after short-lived retirement; up to 94-95 mph with fastball and curve is second plus pitch.
  • Grant Green, SS, Athletics (High-A Stockton): 3-for-5, 2B, 2 R. Slugged .577 after the All-Star break, could move quickly if throwing issue are addressed.
  • Jedd Gyorko, 3B, Padres (Low-A Fort Wayne): 2-for-3, 2B, BB, K. Supplemental first-round pick sure can hit; also got surprisingly positive scouting reports for his defense at third base.
  • Eric Hosmer, 1B, Royals (Double-A Northwest Arkansas): 1-for-5, HR (1), R, RBI, BB, K. Had 13 home runs in 195 Double-A at-bats; now that the power has arrived, is arguably top 1B prospect in the game.
  • Peter Kozma, SS, Cardinals (Double-A Springfield): 2-for-6, 2 HR (2), 2 R, 3 RBI, 2 K. First-round pick showed good power for position with 13 regular season home runs, but overall line of .243/.318/.384 did little for prospect status.
  • Jake McGee, LHP, Rays (Triple-A Durham): 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K. Seems about right, as International League batters went 9-for-61 (.148) with 27 strikeouts against him in the regular season.
  • Martin Perez, LHP, Rangers (Double-A Frisco): 6 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 7 K. Sat in low 90s and touched 94; disappointed statistically this year but scouting reports remained strong.
  • Andy Pettitte, RHP, Yakees (Double-A Trenton): 4 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K. Nice game two starter in the Eastern League playoffs, huh?
  • Justin Smoak, 1B, Mariners (Triple-A Tacoma): 2-for-3, R, 2 BB, K. Has reached base in nine of ten playoff plate appearances.
  • Zach Stewart, RHP, Blue Jays (Double-A New Hampshire): 7 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 10 K. Best start of year for righty acquired from Cincinnati in the Scott Rolen trade; sinker/slider specialist profiles as No. 3 or 4 starter in big leagues.
  • Adam Warren, RHP, Yankees (Double-A Trenton): 6 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 10 K. Yet another Yankee pitching prospect who took a huge step forward in 2010; last year's fourth-round pick has plus velocity and command.
