Renck of the Denver Post writes that Todd Helton was placed on the 15-day disabled list with back trouble. Mark Kislza of the Denver Post writes that the Rockies get hit with a dilemma concerning Helton. Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch writes the Brad Penny was shut down by the Cardinals for at least a week. Jeff Wilson and Anthony Andro of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram write that the Rangers are in discussions with the Mariners about a possible trade for Cliff Lee. I think this idea (daily links to stories of interest) has some potential, but only if the stories are actually of interest. E.g., novel research pieces or unusual news stories with inside info. But "Roger Mooney of the Tampa Tribune writes that the Rays swept the Red Sox and won their fifth straight game." isn't worth noting.
