by John Perrotto

Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times writes that Carlos Zambrano is said to be blaming Derrek Lee for his blowup and will be banished to the Cubs' bullpen when his suspension ends.

Joe Christensen of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune writes that Carl Pavano halted the Twins' three-game slide with a three-hit shutout of the Mets as they beat former ace Johan Santana.

Bob Klapisch of the Bergen Record writes that Santana is struggling without his velocity and focus.

Dan Martin of the New York Post writes that Angel Pagan likely won't play today for the Mets against the Twins.

The Star-Tribune's La Velle E. Neall III writes that the Twins appear ready to take the rent-a-pitcher plunge.

Kelsie Smith of the St. Paul Pioneer Press writes that the Twins might have what it takes to pick up a pitcher like Cliff Lee or Roy Oswalt.

Abraham also writes that Buchholz ran into trouble by injuring his knee on the basepaths.

Scott Lauber of the Boston Herald writes that Dustin Pedroia goes on the disabled list with a broken foot.

Dan Shaughnessy of the Boston Globe writes that Pedroia's injury truly hurts the most for the Red Sox.

Gwen Knapp of the San Francisco Chronicle writes that Daniel Nava has gone from too small to the big leagues.

Derrick Gould of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch writes that the Cardinals are close to signing Renyel Pinto to add pitching depth.

Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel writes that there have been no talks about Prince Fielder's future but plenty of buzz.

David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution writes that Jason Heyward will miss at least two games with a thumb injury.

The Journal-Constitution's Jeff Schultz writes that Chipper Jones is feeling young again and Kenshin Kawakami and the Braves benefitted.

John Harper of the New York Daily News writes that Joe Torre can't continue to rationalize his book content on Alex Rodriguez.

Bill Plaschke of the Los Angeles Times writes that Torre has gotten a blunt reminder this weekend that he no longer works for a franchise with title aspirations.

Kirk Bohls of the Austin American-Statesmen writes that Josh Hamilton is more than a home run guy.

Randy Galloway of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram writes the normally docile Rangers suddenly have baseball and a judge in a rage.

Dan Bickley of the Arizona Republic writes that Edwin Jackson's no-hitter was part of a hot new trend in baseball.

Bob Ford of the Philadelphia Inquirer writes that Raul Ibanez is trying to turn it around.

Martin Frank of the Wilmington News Journal writes the prospects the Phillies gave up in the Cliff Lee and Roy Halladay trades can't be judged just yet.

Bill Livingston of the Cleveland Plain Dealer writes that for the Indians, the appearance is even worse than the reality.

Peter Schmuck of the Baltimore Sun writes that memories of the 1970 Orioles are just that.
