Jim Gintonio of the Arizona Republic writes that Dontrelle Willis pitches six scoreless innings in winning his Diamondbacks' debut against the Rockies. The Republic's Bob McManaman writes that Brandon Webb is close to throwing off a mound.

 --Morgan Campbell of the Toronto Star writes that Aaron Hill's RBI single lifts the Blue Jays past the Yankees in a 14-inning marathon. Robert MacLeod of the Globe & Mail writes that Cito Gaston rejects Joe Girardi's invitation to be on the American League coaching staff in the All-Star Game.

--Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram writes that Tommy Hunter delivers a five-hitter for the Rangers in their victory over the Rays in his season debut. Barry Shlachter of the Dallas Morning News writes that Alex Rodriguez gets a seat on the creditor's panel in the Rangers' bankruptcy case.

--Matt Gelb of the Philadelphia Inquirer writes that Jamie Moyer turns back the clock and throws a seven-hitter as the Phillies beat the Padres. Phil Tresolini of the Camden Courier-Post writes that writes that Charlie Manuel is encouraged by Brad Lidge's showing.

--John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer writes that the Reds reward rookie Mike Leake with a win as he goes to 5-0 by topping the Nationals.

--Joe Christensen of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune writes that the aching and queasy Twins piece together a victory over the Athletics on Matt Tolbert's hit in the ninth inning. Kelsie Smith of the St. Paul Pioneer Press writes that an ill Justin Morneau leaves the biggest hole in the Twins' lineup.

--Tom Gage of the Detroit News writes that Miguel Cabrera mammoth home run backs Justin Verlander in the Tigers' victory over the Royals.

--Andy Martino of the New York Daily News writes that Jonathon Niese and Ike Davis combine to lead the Mets past the Marlins for their seventh straight victory at Citi Field. Martino also writes that Major League Baseball is going to review Oliver Perez's medical records after the Mets place him on the 15-day disabled list.

--Joe Strauss of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch writes that Colby Rasmus hits his stride as the Cardinals outlast the Brewers in 11 innings. Strauss also writes that the Cardinals sign Randy Winn to add experience to the bench.

--Amalie Benjamin of the Boston Globe writes that Jon Lester and the Red Sox are still not in a giving mood as they extend the Orioles' losing streak to 10 games. Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun writes that the Orioles' offense and bullpen sputter.

--Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register writes that the Angels' hot streak continues in their victory over the Mariners.

--Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer writes that the Indians win as Mitch Talbot dominates the White Sox.

--Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune writes that the Cubs break out in a victory over the Astros.

--Dejan Kovacevic of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette writes that the Pirates' new 1-2 combination of Andrew McCutchen and Neil Walker punches out the Giants.

--David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution writes that the Braves use a seven-run inning to beat the Dodgers. O'Brien also writes that Chipper Jones misses his third start for the Braves with a swollen finger.

Troy E. Renck of the Denver Post writes that the Rockies' Todd Helton is benched for the final two games of the series with the Diamondbacks.
