--John Lowe of the Detroit Free Press writes that Bud Selig says he won't change the disputed Armando Galarraga call. Angelique S. Chengelis of the Detroit News writes that the Tigers and their fans treat a down-in-the-dumps Jim Joyce with dignity. Jonah Keri and Brian Costa of the Wall Street Journal write that there is talk of automating calls at first base after Joyce's gaffe. The News' Ted Kulfan writes that Magglio Ordonez drives in five runs to lead the Tigers over the Indians.

--David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution writes that the Braves hang on against the Dodgers for their ninth consecutive victory. O'Brien also writes that Chipper Jones could miss at least two games with a finger injury.

--Joe Stiglich of the Oakland Tribune writes that the Athletics' wild victory over the Red Sox came up with bumps and bruises as Brett Anderson hurt his elbow and Ryan Sweeney sufferes dizziness.

--Geoff Baker of the Seattle Times writes that Don Wakamatsu says he didn't pressure Ken Griffey Jr. to retire. Baker writes that Felix Hernandez helps the Mariners beat the Twins for their third consecutive victory.

--Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer writes that Grady Sizemore will undergo knee surgery today.

--Mark Hale of the New York Post writes that the Yankees sweep the Orioles and give CC Sabathia his first win in a month.

--David Waldstein of the New York Times writes that the Mets lost Daniel Murphy for the rest of the season

--Dave van Dyck of the Chicago Tribune writes that Freddy Garcia is strong in the White Sox's victory over the Rangers. van Dyck also writes that Mark Teahen will be out for at least six weeks.

--Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram writes that Vladimir Guerrero sits out again for the Rangers as his left eye is still swollen.

--Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune writes that Carlos Zambrano gets the starting nod tonight against the Astros.

--Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register writes that the Angels hang on against the Royals to get back to .500.

--Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star writes that Ned Yost protects Jason Kendall and draws his first ejection as Royals manager.

--Bernardo Fallas of the Houston Chronicle writes that Carlos Lee strikes a blow for perseverance as his walk-off home run fells the Nationals and takes Matt Lindstrom off the hook.

--Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald writes that the Marlins survive a tense ninth inning to beat the Brewers.

--Roger Mooney of the Tampa Tribune writes that Jason Bartlett is placed on the disabled list and Kelly Shoppach is set to rejoin the Rays tonight.

--Bob Brookover of the Philadelphia Inquirer writes that Jimmy Rollins is not ready to return.

--Dejan Kovacevic of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette writes that Pirates prospect Donnie Veal is scheduled to have Tommy John surgery.
