For those of you who do drafts instead of auctions, we’ve got you covered. Below you will find our Top 300 rankings. These rankings are for 15-team mixed leagues using standard Rotisserie scoring and rosters. This means two catcher rosters, so if you’re drafting in a one-catcher league, you will need to adjust accordingly. One change we have made this year is that we haven’t populated the table below with the “correct” number of catchers. A 15-team league has 345 active players, so many of the catchers who will be drafted fall below this 300 player threshold.

This is the first draft ranking of two that will be published this spring. The second update will be published shortly before Opening Day.

I'll give an internet high five to anyone who can make this into a Google Doc or PDF with the rankings intact, but the players divided up into their respective positions.

If Schwarber still qualifies at catcher in the league format, how far do you move him up?
lipitorkid
3/15
I'd put him between Posey and Sanchez depending on the format.

24 starting pitchers had mixed league bid amounts, but did not make the top 300. Some of the omissions surprised me. The list of players with bids over 1:
+-------------------+--------+------+
| player | mlteam | bid |
+-------------------+--------+------+
| Alex Cobb | TB | 3 |
| Ivan Nova | PIT | 2 |
| Junior Guerra | MIL | 2 |
| Joe Ross | WAS | 2 |
| Gio Gonzalez | WAS | 2 |
| Mike Foltynewicz | ATL | 2 |
+-------------------+--------+------+

(I realize that most $1 bid guys would have to be omitted. You did include Jason Hammel.)

Would Mike or Bret care to comment on any of these names?

Cobb should probably be on here somewhere. And Hammel probably shouldn't be.

But when you get into the $2 pitchers in mixed a lot of this is discretionary. Bret and I consolidate our rankings, so some of this is a case where we both might "prefer" a player as opposed to only one of us expressing a preference.

How are these ratings based? For example, if I went into the PFM here on bp.com and picked a standard league, no auction straight draft, 5x5 with 15 teams, I get very different results than this list.
MikeGianella
3/23
The PFM is based off of PECOTA and uses a mechanical forecast to generate values. These rankings take a number of things into account - including the PFM - but also use NFBC drafts as a real life barometer for when a player might be taken.

Would trading down to pick 8 from 3 be dumb?

I really want Harper or Machado this year and Votto in rnd 2 but at my 3rd pick I think Votto will be gone
MikeGianella

It's not dumb but it sounds suboptimal to me.
