Many of our authors make a habit of speaking to scouts and other talent evaluators in order to bring you the best baseball information available. Not all of the tidbits gleaned from those conversations make it into our articles, but we don't want them to go to waste. Orioles 3B Manny Machado: Is anyone shocked that he's playing at this level? Healthy, showing power and speed. Better get Peter to open the vault, Manny is going to have a payday.
Rangers Double-A OF Nick Williams: He has one of the best hit tools in the minors and is a top ten prospect for me.
Nationals High-A RHP Lucas Giolito: Barely looks like he's trying, and I mean that in the most positive way possible. This kid is unreal, a truly elite talent.
Red Sox Low-A SS Javier Guerra: You wouldn’t think it to look at the kid, as skinny as he is, but he’s got some pop. It’s in the wrists, which is good because he you don’t want him to have to put on too much weight and lose all that range he has. He’s got flaws, but it’s a nice combination of pick and pop.
Athletics Double-A 1B Matt Olson: I’m not sure what’s happened to Olson after a decent start to the season. He’s got some major flaws and will always be a low-average guy with a platoon split, but he’s got more power than he’s shown the past few months.
Cardinals High-A LHP Corey Littrell: This is going to be one of those guys where we say ‘where do the Cardinals get these guys from?’ but in this case, he was basically a throw-in in a trade. He’s going to win them some games at some point.
Rays High-A SS Willy Adames: Man, Adames’ ceiling is huge. He’s got some pop in that bat for a shortstop, he can play the position and he’s such an athlete. As he figures out the strike zone, he’s going to take off.
