  • Pirates C Russell Martin hit his first home run of the season against the Braves.
  • Diamondbacks SP Patrick Corbin was superb, but watched his bullpen blow his win, as he held the Yankees to one run while striking out seven over seven frames in a 6-2 extra innings victory.
  • SS Didi Gregorius homered on the first pitch he saw as a Diamondback and also added a double in his next at-bat in a win over the Yankees.
  • Pirates 3B Pedro Alvarez hit his first home run of the season in a loss to the Braves.
  • Braves C Evan Gattis delivered a go-ahead, pinch-hit two-run homer in a 6-4 win over the Pirates.
  • Braves 1B/3B Chris Johnson continued his hot start going 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBI's in a win over the Pirates.
  • Braves SP Julio Teheran had another disappointing performance allowing four runs in five innings in no-decision against the Pirates.
  • Pirates SP Jeff Locke allowed four runs in 4 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Braves.
  • Braves OF B.J. Upton went 2-for-4 with a homer and a walk in a win over the Pirates.
  • Braves OF Justin Upton launched his major-league leading ninth home run against the Pirates.
  • Pirates OF Starling Marte went 0-for-5 with five strikeouts in a loss to the Braves.
  • Reds RP Tony Cingrani only lasted five innings, but he struck out eight and held the Marlins to one run to win his first major league start in a 11-1 victory.
  • Marlins SP Jose Fernandez was tagged for five runs on six hits and three walks over just four innings in a loss to the Reds.
  • Reds 3B Todd Frazier had a big night against the Marlins, going 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and three runs scored.
  • OF Justin Ruggiano accounted for the Marlins' only run in a loss to the Reds, hitting a solo homer.
  • SP Adam Wainwright pitched seven innings, allowing seven hits, three earned runs, struck out four, and did not walk a batter for the 29th straight inning to start the season to get his third win of the season without a defeat as the Cardinals beat the Phillies 4-3. 
  • RP Edward Mujica earned his first save of the season as the Cardinals beat the Phillies 4-3. Mujica came in with two outs in the eighth and went on to pitch 1.1 innings allowing no runs, two hits, and struck out two. 
  • Phillies SP Cole Hamels pitched well in a no-decision, giving up three runs while striking out eight over seven frames in a loss to the Cardinals.
  • Craig Kimbrel pitched a scoreless ninth, striking out the side, to earn his seventh save of the season as the Braves came from behind to defeat the Cardinals 4-3. Kimbrel is now tied with Giants RP Sergio Romo for the most saves this season.
  • Cardinals OF Carlos Beltran went 2-for-4 with a go-ahead, solo homer in the eighth inning of a win over the Phillies.
  • Cardinals C Yadier Molina went 3-for-4 with tow RBI's and a stolen base against the Phillies.
  • Phillies INF Freddy Galvis made his first start in left field this season and went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored in a loss to the Cardinals.
  • Cubs SP Carlos Villanueva allowed a pair of solo homers but otherwise held the Rangers scoreless over seven innings in a 6-2 win.
  • Cubs C Welington Castillo went 4-for-4 with a double, three singles and a run scored in a win over the Rangers. Castillo is batting .425 (17-for-40) on the season.
  • Rockies SP Jon Garland gave up two runs in seven innings in an 11-3 win over the Mets.
  • Rockies SS Troy Tulowitzki went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in a blowout win over the Mets.
  • Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez went 3-for-5 with an RBI single and two runs scored in a win over the Mets.
  • Rockies OF Dexter Fowler smoked his seventh home run of the season against the Mets.
  • Mets SP Jon Niese yielded three runs in six innings in a loss to the Rockies.
  • Mets 2B Daniel Murphy went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored in a losing effort against the Rockies.
  • SP Yovani Gallardo limited the Giants to one run over six innings in the Brewers' 7-2 victory.
  • Giants SP Matt Cain was hammered for seven earned runs over six innings in a loss to the Brewers.
  • OF Ryan Braun slugged his third home run of the season as the Brewers defeated the Giants.
  • Giants SS Brandon Crawford went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the Brewers.

American League:

  • Yankees SP Phil Hughes held the Diamondbacks to two runs while striking out six over seven innings in a loss.
  • Yankees C Francisco Cervelli hit a game-tying solo homer in the ninth inning of a loss to the Diamondbacks.
  • Orioles C Matt Wieters played hero by crushing a walk-off grand slam in a 10-6 win over the Rays in 10 innings.
  • Orioles SP Miguel Gonzalez was touched up for five runs (four earned) in 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Rays.
  • Rays SP David Price gave up five runs over six-plus innings in a no-decision against the Orioles. Price is now sporting a 6.26 ERA and 1.57 WHIP through 4 starts this season.
  • Rays OF Desmond Jennings went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in an extra-inning loss to the Orioles.
  • Rays 1B James Loney had another big night going 3-for-5 with a homer and two runs scored.
  • Rays C Jose Molina went 2-for-5 with his first home run of the season against the Orioles.
  • Red Sox SP Jon Lester was excellent yet again, holding the Indians to two runs over seven innings in a 6-3 victory. Lester is now 3-0 with a 1.73 and 0.88 WHIP through 4 starts this season.
  • Indians SP Zach McAllister allowed three runs in five innings in a loss to the Red Sox.
  • Red Sox OF Daniel Nava knocked in two runs in a win over the Indians.
  • Blue Jays RP Casey Janssen pitched a perfect ninth inning to nail down his fifth save of the season in a 3-1 win over the White Sox.
  • White Sox SP Chris Sale fell to 1-2 despite a fine showing, as he limited the Blue Jays to three runs — two earned — while striking out six over seven innings.
  • Blue Jays OF Rajai Davis went 2-for-4 with a run scored, an RBI and two stolen bases in a win over the White Sox. Davis hit leadoff for Toronto and could see more playing time with 2B/OF Emilio Bonifacio struggling.
  • Indians SP Daisuke Matsuzaka allowed two runs on two hits and eight walks over four innings in a start for Triple-A Columbus.
  • Mariners SP Hisashi Iwakuma held the Tigers scoreless on just three hits and a walk over six innings in a 2-0 victory.
  • Mariners RP Tom Wilhelmsen nailed down his sixth save of the season with a perfect ninth inning in a win over the Tigers.
  • Tigers SP Justin Verlander struck out 12 but suffered his second loss, allowing two runs over seven frames against the Mariners.
  • Hitting in the leadoff spot, Mariners OF Endy Chavez came through in a spot start against the Tigers, going 2-for-3 with an RBI single and a spectacular diving catch in the 9th inning.
  • Rangers SP Alexi Ogando was hit hard giving up five runs, six hits and two walks over just 2 1/3 frames in a loss to the Cubs.
  • Rangers OF Nelson Cruz went 2-for-3 with a homerun against the Cubs.
  • Rangers 2B Ian Kinsler singled and ripped a solo homer in a loss to the Cubs.

  • Marlins purchased the contract of INF Nick Green from Triple-A New Orleans.
  • Marlins transferred RHP Nathan Eovaldi from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
  • Marlins activated 1B Joe Mahoney from the 15-day disabled list.
  • Marlins placed SS Adeiny Hechavarria on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 17, with a bruised elbow.
  • The Phillies will recall RP Joe Savery from Triple-A prior to Friday's game.
  • Phillies placed LHP John Lannan on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left quadriceps muscle.
  • Reds recalled LHP Tony Cingrani from Triple-A Louisville.
  • Reds optioned RHP Justin Freeman to Triple-A Louisville.

  • Brewers prospect right-hander Hiram Burgos will be called up from Triple-A Nashville to start Saturday against the Cubs.
  • Brewers optioned RHP Mike Fiers to Triple-A Nashville.

  • Astros purchased the contract of INF Brandon Laird from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

  • Braves RP Luis Avilan had issues with his left hamstring while jogging before Thursday's game.
  • Pirates SP Charlie Morton (elbow) allowed two runs on three hits over three innings for High-A Bradenton Thursday in his first rehab start.
  • Pirates SP Jeff Karstens (shoulder) threw a 30-pitch bullpen session Thursday.
  • Reds SP Johnny Cueto (strained lat) has no timeline to resume throwing.
  • Braves 1B Freddie Freeman (oblique) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Friday with Triple-A Gwinnett.
  • Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said Thursday that SP John Lannan (quadriceps) could miss 6-8 weeks.
  • Phillies OF Domonic Brown is scheduled to undergo an MRI on his sore mid-back Thursday in Philadelphia.
  • Shaun Marcum (neck) tossed four scoreless innings Thursday in an extended spring training game.
American League:

  • Orioles 2B Brian Roberts (knee) jogged on a treadmill in a pool on Thursday.
  • White Sox OF Dayan Viciedo has been diagnosed with a strained left oblique and will be re-evaluated on Friday.
  • Red Sox RP Franklin Morales (back) is scheduled to make his next rehab appearance Monday with Double-A Portland.
  • Red Sox SP John Lackey (biceps) is on track to make a minor league rehab start Monday with Double-A Portland.
  • Orioles RP Tsuyoshi Wada (elbow) threw 45 pitches over three innings Thursday in extended spring training.
  • Orioles RP Steve Johnson (lat) threw four innings in extended spring training on Thursday and will now begin a minor league rehab assignment.
  • Blue Jays RP Sergio Santos was diagnosed with a strain of the flexor pronator muscle following an MRI.
  • Yankees SS Derek Jeter will be out until after the All-Star break after a CT scan revealed a small crack in his surgically-repaired left ankle.
  • DH David Ortiz (heel) told reporters that he is ready to join the Red Sox lineup on Friday night.
  • Rays prospect OF Wil Myers was pulled from a game Thursday at Triple-A Durham with a right foot contusion.
